Invitations for an "Already Married Couple"

Andrea, on January 13, 2013 at 4:25 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

My husband and I were married at the JP this past October and are planning a public ceremony and reception for family and friends. Does anyone have any suggestions for the invitations? I am completely stumped. Thank you!

Andrea

Does everyone know you were already married?

Are you doing any kind of vow ceremony? Or just a reception? All at the same location?

Did you want really formal invitations, or kinda casual with a photo?

If a photo invite, do you have a picture from your wedding day?

    ~ congrats ~

Thanks to the both of you. Hayley, the answer to your first question is yes. Everyone knows that we are already married. We are wanting a vow ceremony and reception. So far, they are at the same location. I'm torn between a casual or semi- formal invitation. Thanks again!

Since everyone knows, your phrasing for your invitation should include the fact that guests are being invited to a Vow Renewal and Celebration:

Please join us as we renew our vows in the prescence of those we love. INSERT INFO.

Immediately after the vow renewal, we will celebrate with a ________________(an evening of; an afternoon ofSmiley winking, please join us.

I am sure there are more eloquent ways to say it. The most important part is that your guests know it is a vow renewal.

I used a similar wording to this for my parents 35 yr anniversary celebration:

Because you have shared in their lives

    by your friendship and love

the honour of your presence is requested

at the reaffirmation of the wedding vows of

    Michael and Karie Barrett
