Invitation wording - reception only

FH and I are attending a reception next month. The couple worded it:

Mr. & Mrs. John Smith were married in a small ceremony April 6th. The happy couple request the honor of your presence at a celebration of their marriage Saturday, the first of June at seven o' clock at the Noors in Pasadena. Evening attire requested.

In lieu of gifts, the happy couple requests their guests make a donation of any amount to Huntington Hospital. Please RSVP by May 15th.

ForeverMyLove's example is very nice. I like the idea of calling it a 'celebration of their marriage'.

You're doing this on the same day right?

I'd go more like the above example, but worded more like "will marry x day in an intimate family ceremony" and follow with the rest she said

If that happened to me, I would try to find another church. I know my little small town has atleast ten.

Tiffany M. we live in a town of 800 lol. There's one church...besides it's the church he grew up in and we still go to. We had problems with getting them to marry us any way because we live together...so a small ceremony is a compromise.

I was invited to a reception only a few months ago.

The invitation said something like "mr&mrs will be married 12:00 on this date... you are invited to attend the reception following at this time and this location"

Our reception invites say:

Mr. & Mrs. _____ invite you to dessert, drinks, and dancing at the reception of their daughter yada yada yada date, time, etc.
