Invitation with number attending already filled in

After being invited to (and attending) the engagement party and TWO bridal showers, received the wedding invite. Was taken aback to see that the "number attending" was already filled in! And even though I'm single, invitation was addressed to me only. First time this has ever happened. Can't decide...

The couple more than likely had a guest count limit. We are having to do this because we can't go past a certain amount of people.

Why are you so taken aback by the fact that they filled in how many seats you get? Did you plan on bringing a date? Before this apparent slight, did you plan to attend? Have you planned a wedding where a ton of people added randoms to the guest list?

Yup, we have a 100 person limit. If we go over that, we have to rent the ugly white tent (meaning no more beautiful barn) at a whopping $5,000 extra. I mean if you and your uninvited guests want to pay the $5k to get me the tent, by all means.

    Until then, deal with it.

"And even though I'm single, invitation was addressed to me only."

I'm sorry but who else is it supposed to be addressed to?

FH and I are giving plus ones to those in committed relationships and those travelling from far far away (which I'm guessing you are not far away from this wedding if you've already been to three pre-wedding events). All my single friends and all his single friends are coming solo. A few of his college buddies travelling from out of state or the country even told him they wouldn't bring a date when given the choice. We have invited all our close friends and they all at least know a few people to mix and mingle. If we offered plus ones to everyone, there is a good chance they would all bring someone we don't know just because they can and the offer's on the table. We don't want a bunch of people we don't know at our wedding. And it would blow up our budget.

If you're upset because they filled in "1 out of 1 attending," is it possible at one of the three pre-wedding events you were at, you told the bride how excited you were and that you would be there? Is it possible she or their stationary person made a misstep on the invite?

If I were you, I would just deal with it. If you skip a wedding because you don't get a plus one as a legitimately single guest, that's just horrible.

Yeeeaahh, I don't see a problem? You said you're single, so you're not entitled to a plus one.

I'm only giving plus ones to people in relationships or people that won't know anyone else there

If i know someone is completely single, I wouldn't give them a plus one either. I'm not sure why you're upset over this if you are actually single, unless you have been seeing someone? Otherwise, I don't see the problem.

OP try not to take it personally. You don't really realize this but it is SO expensive per plate at weddings. When you have a budget unfortunately a lot of single guests don't get a plus 1. When I was single I attended many weddings without a plus 1 and had a blast!! It's customary to offer plus one's if you are in the wedding party. It doesn't seem like that is the case, so that is why you weren't offered a plus one. Also note that people often have to choose that they can only invite x amount of people due to budget reasons. So in theory, you could choose between inviting 10 single people plus a guest each to = 20 guests, or 20 of your single guests. Instead of cutting out people you know and love and want to be at your wedding, of course the easier choice is to have all the people you KNOW there and instead not inviting random people. Hope you understand and can chalk it up to budget reasons and you being important enough to be invited.

If it makes you feel any better, I stood up in a friend's wedding a few years ago and I was not permitted to bring my boyfriend (who I had been dating for over a year). I was bummed, but I understood her reasoning.

SSJKarigan that's pretty rude after you spending money on a bridesmaids dress and everything. You are a good friend for understanding!!

I've seen a lot of people do this, a friend of ours actually did because they knew they would have problems with their family wanting extra people there. They were getting rsvps with the pre written # attending and add on their own.m number. So I can totally see why they felt the need to do that. And it is a great way for ppl to be direct without being so direct!

I'm confused at OP saying she's completely single. Are there a lot of single people (not married, not dating, not engaged) on WW? Initially, I assumed she was getting married in July and upset at her FH not being included on this RSVP.

This whole thing is confusing. How can you be single and have a wedding date on your profile?

If that's really the case, who else was it supposed to be addressed to? And what gives you any right to be offended that you can't bring someone to another's wedding? It's up to the couple hosting the wedding to decide who gets to come and if they don't want you bringing some random plus one, then that's their decision.

OP are you mad that you are single and didn't get a plus one or are you with someone and s/he wasn't invited?

We are filling in the number and writing the names of those invited. Just because you are single does not mean you are entitled to have a plus one. We are not giving any single guests a plus one.

Chuckling at the idea that OP was so shocked at not getting a plus-one that she *created an account on a wedding forum* to complain about it. The world never ceases to amaze me.
