Invitation timeline without save the dates

Mar, on January 7, 2017 at 8:08 AM Posted in Planning 0 5

Hello All!

I did not send out save the dates as I essentially am planning a wedding in less than 6 months (I know that's not something many people here do...but yes I have a beautiful venue at an excellent price, so I'm good there). My wedding is at the beginning of April. Since I did not send out save the dates, should I send our invites earlier? Is more than 8 weeks out too soon?

Thanks everyone!

Same timeline, unless it's a DW, in which case, I think you can go a little earlier.

I planned mine in 4 months. It was fucking amazing.

Don't make too many assumptions about others' engagements, OP.

Thanks PressTheStarKey. I didn't mean any offense by the assumption, I just lurked through a bunch of threads with people slamming others on a short time line! I will have only had my ring for exactly four months from my wedding too! I put the deposit on our venue a few weeks before!

Since you did not have an opportunity to send out save the dates, then I would send out invitations early. If you have contact info for the guest you plan to invite, I would give them a personal phone call to see if they can attend which is more personal than a save the date. Then you will have an approximate guest count. I hope this helps.

Your RSVP date should be two weeks before the final numbers are due to the caterer. You should send the invitations four weeks prior to that. If you have any oot guests then I would call, text, or FB message them to give a heads up on the wedding date so they can make travel arrangements.

Don't listen to Sonia. Invites go out no more than 8 weeks ahead of the wedding date. Any earlier and people will either forget or not know their plans.
