Lynnie, on May 10, 2016 at 11:31 AM Posted in Planning 0 15

WeddingWire is excited to introduce Messages - the newest way to manage all of your vendor conversations!

With Messages you can keep track of your communication with vendors in one place, reply instantly through your personal email or WeddingWire account, and get real time notifications in your account when vendors reply.

Messages is available across desktop and mobile and will be coming to the WW app soon.

Um...I don't think that's what they were asking for, but I'm very glad I helped pay for it.

Don't worry - there is still a team furiously working on forum updates! I'm sure you guys are sick of hearing me say we're working on it, but trust me - your patience will be rewarded Smiley smile

Also, I'm still waiting for the @"username" function to tag people....as far as messaging vendors, their info is all over the internet and FACEBOOK. Many of mine use FACEBOOK messenger and I can tell if they saw my message or not.....

@HoneyLife - sorry about that! There are no specific plans to make a public announcement for giveaway winners, but there is a publicity release for the winner to sign after they are notified to leave our options open.

While I'm sure we all appreciate the effort WW is putting in to improving the site, I have to agree that user-vendor messaging was kind of a wasted effort. I communicate with my vendors through the personal email account I made for all things wedding related, and keep everything filed in their own folders - catering, DJ, venue, etc. With how accessible vendors make themselves, this messaging system seems to be a bit redundant.

We would much rather be able to send messages user-to-user; sometimes we connect with a user on the forums and would like to communicate with them privately. We're unable to do this unless we email any of the mods to request an exchange of email addresses. It would make things much more efficient from a business standpoint to reinstate user messaging. Then the middle man it's cut out and the mods can devote the time spent on exchanging user emails to other, more important duties, such as reviewing forum flags to ensure consistent enforcement of the community guidelines.

I promise the forum-specific feedback is not going unheard! We are working on a lot of forum updates right now, based on consistent feedback from forum members and prioritized based on the results of the surveys you've all completed!

This new feature was the result of a ton of feedback from both users and vendors. We have an entire usability team dedicated to finding and trying to alleviate pain points in the planning and booking processes.

While I obviously have forum tunnel vision as well, as a company WeddingWire will always strive to balance the feedback and requests of the members of all of our audiences - vendors, forum members, and engaged couples who do not participate on the forums Smiley smile

I'm sure part of this is to directly see how many messages go back and forth with vendors and the number it takes to mark it "booked" etc - which would be valuable data for both WW and vendors who use the site to gauge their efficacy in reaching target audiences. I get that user to user messaging doesn't directly impact that so it isn't a priority but it also feels like a big to do about something no one was really asking for.

Genuinely curious how the team needs to be working furiously on something that we've already had in the past.

Better develop an all-in-one app for vendors. This is just ridiculous that there are several smaller apps and no one has needed functionality to manage the account thought the mobile device.
