Interview questions for a DJ

sarah, on September 6, 2011 at 1:05 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 9

My fiance and I are going to meet with a DJ this afternoon. This is the first one we are meeting with and so I'm not sure what questions to ask. Does anyone have any questions that they think would be important to know while interviewing for a dj for the wedding? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Smiley smile Thanks!

You also have to decide what the answers to those questions mean to you. There are many dj services that have several dj's so the person you meet may NOT be the one at your event. Is this good or bad? Only you know the answer to that.

Do you want an "EMCEE" or someone who will stay out of the limelight and let the party unfold without a loud presence from the dj booth.

All in all, many good questions, some with more than one right answer.

@Celia - that is a great point that the DJ mightnot be the same as the one you meet with. We made sure to get it in writing in our contract whot he actual DJ will be.

Its looks like that list covers it all.

Great point Celia! We definitely have an idea of what we are looking for so how the questions are answered does mean a lot.

The list of questions is good. I have addressed each and every question on my Web site under the FAQ page, but they are good questions to ask... having said that, you very well may run into a DJ who considers the long list of questions a prelude to problems (not me... but be ready for it). Some might consider it a "zilla" situation, and run scared.

I have a blog that addresses much of what you are asking about. You can look for it in my storefront. Simply click on my p

First of all, I recommend the ADJA web site for the first few and most basic questions. www.adja.org

The one that I think most people forget is... ask your DJ to do a sample introduction.
