We too are just doing a monogram initial. It's so much easier.

We had similar issues looking for cake toppers for a same-sex couple. They exist, but they tend to be expensive. And the whole thing of cake toppers with a stylized bride and groom is a bit old-fashioned anyway. An initial, fresh flowers, or a stylized couple of some sort can all work. For example, my son is Jewish and his wife is Asian. They had a bride and groom that were test tubes dressed up in appropriate clothing (dress and veil for her, tux for him).

I am going with a glass heart the sits on one side that is engraved with our names and the wedding date. Some come with a wooden stand. I liked it because after i have a nice nick-nack after the wedding.
