Interesting comment from boutique owner - Mori Lee dresses

Alicia, on March 7, 2015 at 9:50 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 26

I was calling bridal stores yesterday that carry Mori Lee dresses looking for a specific style that I could try on. When I called one boutique she just said Hello when answering, I had to ask if I had the right number. She explained she had closed her shop and was transitioning into online. Okay. She still asked how she could help. I told her what designer and style I was looking for and she said that Mori Lee dresses are cheap and cheaply made. She said when she bought them they were only $50 or $75. Then proceeded to tell me about other dresses she had. Is this true? Are Mori Lee dresses bad? I'm in love with a dress from 2013 and can't find a store with it, still looking.

If they were bad, they wouldn't be so popular.

When my MOH got married in November she had a Mori Lee dress I don't think they are bad or cheap at all. My MOH dress for her wedding was also Mori Lee the material is not cheaply made or anything sounds like she just wanted to sell you dresses that she carries.

Mori Lee is a more affordable brand than others, but the dresses are beautiful! I tried a few on, and my MOH wore one for her wedding. I'd recommend that brand for sure.

She sounds sketchy. I haven't seen one of these dresses in person (to my knowledge) but they don't look cheap in the pictures.

I am wearing a Mori Lee dress that I found at a Brides Against Breast Cancer charity event. It's beautiful and well made.

I own a Mori Lee bridesmaid dress that I bought for a non-wedding event and I LOVE IT. It is strapless and it has stays in the bust so it holds up better. I was happy with the quality,

When I poked my head in to my local boutique I was looking at the Mori Lees there, and they dont look cheap to me at all.... looked very well made, no difference in quality to the maggie sotteros they had.

She sounds bitter. I went to a bridal shop in LA a few weeks ago and tried on these dresses (possible 2nd dress) and loved both of them. Was considering dresses from DB, but these have changed my mind. Trust me, they are not poorly/cheaply made.

I spent 5 years working at a bridal shop. I went to Chicago twice a year to see the new season's dress lines to coming out. I was also responsible for ordering all sample dresses for our shop. Mori Lee dresses cost MUCH more than what that lady said. They are well made, do not look or feel cheap and have great seam allowance for alterations. They were some of my favorite dresses to work with out of all the dress companies. The lady you talked to seems pretty shady to me. I wouldn't listen to a word she said.

I think that Alicia made a very good point. if she's closing her store, at best she's probably tired and stressed. probably wants to unload some dresses.

Other than pictures I'm not that familiar with Mori Lee.

keep in mind, she's seen many dresses and you get Jaded. if she wasn't just trying to snow you, then she probably has her own opinons on what's good and what's not.

After making dresses for years, and making party dresses for young relatives made from silk, I'm very Jaded when it comes to materials. I almost wore a dress that was about 80 percent finished made out of bridal satin, and I did love it. but the fact that it wasn't silk just weighed on me.

then I accidentally dieted out of the dress. so in the last month, I used silk that previously couldn't bear to cut up and made the dress of my dreams.

the satin was beautiful, but I knew in my heart if I didn't walk down the aisle in the most lavish of materials I could possibly have, I'd regret it! anything else would make me feel like I settled. plus I love silk!

just follow your heart- you know what's most important to you, wear what makes you feel like a bride!

When I went to a boutique (after being at DB twice to try on dresses), all I tried on were Mori Lee dresses. Beautiful, figure flattering no matter the size (I'm a 14/16 street size), and lovely details. I bought a Mori Lee 1960 and can't wait to wear it

I tried on Mori Lee. They weren't cheaply made. Did you check the Mori Lee website? They tell you who sells their dresses.

So glad to hear she might be bitter/crazy. I'm in LOVE with 1959. I finally found a shop that has it. But then the debate will be to buy it there or at an online shop that's based out of FL because it's probably cheaper.

I worry about ordering dresses online. There are a lot of scammers that switch tags and mail out knock-offs. I'd buy it from a reputable store where you can get reliable measurements, good service, etc. A lot of stores give you a sale price if you buy off the rack.
