It depends on the song. I am going with only instrumental even though the lyrics of the song mean a lot to me, I'll know the meaning of the song and that's what matters. I agree with you, I think it's a sacred moment and sometimes the lyrics can make it a bit cheesy. You can never go wrong with only the beautiful sounds of the instruments. However I have seen it done once with a live female vocalist and it was beautiful, only that once I've seen it not be cheesy with the lyrics but I guess that means it can be done tastefully. I think it's just a personal preference so go with the way you envision it being right for you.

Personally, if I had a song that I loved with lyrics to walk down the aisle to, I would probably start singing with it... LOL! (That's not a good a thing. Smiley winking

Songs with lyrics aren't huge for walking down the aisle, and overall I think instrumentals are more traditional, classic, mood-setting, etc... so unless there's a song you can't live without, sticking with what's been done for hundreds of years isn't a bad idea. Smiley smile

Yea, i was trying to explain to my fiance why instrumental would be better..i dont think he realized that it could be from any song...just the instruments.i would like a song sung at my wedding i just dont want to walk down the aisle to a song with lyrics..it would just feel weird..haha

i was thinking of having the bridal party walk down to ave maria..(instrumental)

its this version though...heres jewels version...

does this sound too depressing for the bridemaids to walk down to?? If so maybe ill just stick with canon in D..its just this is a very pretty song

We've had brides do both, and I agree with all of the above posts that ones with lyrics do have to be a special type of a song.

Here are the songs that some of our brides have used to walk down the aisle to that DO have lyrics and they've used the version WITH lyrics. It was BEAUTIFUL!!!!:

Hi Linda... I definitely say Live Instrumental!! It really is the only way your song can be altered with regard to length according to the your walk down the aisle and arrival at your groom. Live musicians create a more personalized elegant atmosphere. If you are getting married in the South Florida area, definitely give Master Musicians Inc. a call to chat about your day. Live musician packages start as low as $200.00 and can really make a difference in your ceremony. 754 224-1000

I think it depends on the song and which version of it you like the best. It's your wedding, so make it your own. Smiley smile I am using Bless the Broken Road (with lyrics).

I think the true answer to this question lies in the requester. As my grandma used to tell me "Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder." This being said what ever you deem is goig to make your day special should define your choice.

The great thing about instrumentals is they set a great mood without being too mushy whereas a great song with corny lyrics could divert attention to the song in place of you the newlyweds. Also, If you like a specific song finding the instrumental is pretty easy nowadays.

Hope this helps...Narrio (The Wright Touch Entertainment Mobile DJ

Just depends on what you want. Traditonal or the more modern approach? I think for the bridal march i go with instrumental. but thats just me

I walked down the isle to "Oceans" by Hillside United.

It was absolutely beautiful. My wedding party walked down to the beginning of the song and then when she hit the repetitive chorus I walked down

Oh and I had one of my friends actually sing the song.
