Kat19, on July 21, 2019 at 8:59 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 29

This might be a fun way to look back on your wedding dress journey! When you began looking online or through social media for your "dream" dress, what are some dresses you saw where you thought "OMG, I love it" or "I want my dress to look like this"? How close did your inspiration dresses come to the dress you actually got? What were some of your "must haves" and did you actually get them (yes or no)? Share some of your inspo photos here!

Must haves: Train (yes) / Train with lace edges (no) / Trumpet silhouette (yes)/ Off the shoulder (no )/ Minimal lace (yes)/ Button detailing on back (yes) / Form fitting (yes) / Crepe (no, thank God) Smiley xd

I decided to skip chance of finding what I wanted in a dress. Instead, I had my dress custom made and created the design with my dressmaker based on what I wanted. I wanted a dress that was very flowy, with lots of layers, lace bodice, 3/4 sleeves, and buttons down the back. I liked the look of lace over a sweetheart neckline. This is our sketch of what we came up with and here was the finished product.

This was the type of dress I was originally looking at: big tulle skirts, intricate bodies, and maybe some sleeves.

This is the dress I chose: still has the big full skirt but with a much simpler bodice.

I still sometimes think about my first dream dress. By the time I had the funds to go shopping it was no longer being made and I couldn't even find a sample. I would have loved to at least try it on...oh well, I do love the dress I chose

I originally wanted a dark colored dress but couldn’t find anything in real life. I decided to go with a traditional gown. My must haves were straps, no train, lace, beaded or sparkly bodice, and champagne/ivory. I couldn’t find one I liked without a train and I had the cap sleeves added, but overall it’s what I was looking for.

    I wanted one like this:
    https://www.amazon.com/jaeden-wedding-bridal-mermaid-dresses/dp/b07gzgsffb/ref=mp_s_a_1_29?keywords=cap+sleeve+mermaid+wedding+dress&qid=1563764792&s=gateway&sr=8-29

But when I tried on with cap sleeves and the mermaid shape it just didn't feel right on me.

I ended up with something like this for the silhouette and back except the front of mine had a v cut:

The dress I ended up picking was the last picture I posted from my inspiration folder... I had no idea that I had saved it before. That was the most bizarre experience just now. But it was clearly fate or destiny or something.

I wanted a strapless, tulle, ballgown with beading and a corset. My dress originally had an illusion neckline and a sipper back, but we changed that.

I don't have any pictures of my inspo dresses but I wanted sleeves, white, no lace, sparkle up top and a very plain skirt.

What I got was strapless, not white (it's called vintage rose) and lace.

I wanted sleeves, and ball gown shape. My dress has thin straps, sequins under the lace (not something I ever would’ve considered) and it’s much more straight/fitted than I imagined for myself but I love it!!

I have way too many inspiration pictures to add, but here are a few (#1-3). I wanted lace, fit and flare, with a v-neck, and an interesting back.

I ended up (at least for now; I have one more appointment before I decide it’s the one) with fit and flare, satin with lace appliqués, jeweled v-neck, and a low back (#4-6). Not far off the mark!

What’s funny is that I was going for something non traditional with a different color wedding dress (never wanted white) or maybe go boho with my dress and have a flower crown. What do I get? An ivory typical wedding dress! Hahaha

The only thing I knew for sure I wanted was straps. I don’t feel comfortable in strapless and I hate sleeves. Other than that I was pretty open. My inspiration photos were pretty simple. Not too many layers in the skirt, some lace on top. I ended up with a bigger skirt than I thought originally, a lot more lace, and a gorgeous train!

Can I ask who your dress is?! I love it -- deff an inspo for me Smiley winking

I went wedding dress shopping yesterday and thought I found the one but having a little doubts because it's crepe and idk how to not be anxious about tummy rolls/panty lines the whole time. Here is 2 inspo and one dress I really loved (minus the strapless part) and then "the" dress:

Uh oh...the last two photos didn't load! I didn't realize until after the first two shops that my "new" inspo was the same as yours! I love, love simple satin and mikado gowns and a beautiful off-the-shoulder one was my runner up. I still think of it from time to time. Smiley sad If you haven't find your dress yet, you should look into "Josie" by Rebecca Ingram. It looks very similar to your first two pics and it is stunning. *insert all the heart eyes here* BUT to answer your question, my dress is D2675 by Essence of Australia! Smiley smile And I know what you mean, crepe is SO hard to pull off. Mikado is the much safer alternative!

Wow, that sounds like every girl's dream to design their own dress. Yours is beautiful and romantic - and your lovely blue eyes really pop against all the red!

The bodice of your dress is very close to your inspo one! I love that train...especially how that lace strip goes all the way down the center. The symmetry! Smiley heart

You went totally opposite! I love it. I thought I wanted lots of lace and tulle too (at first), but simplicity won.

Your insp pics are pretty dang close to the real thing! I love dramatic backs too. Good thing wedding dresses have built in bras because dang....no one would be able to pull off the naked back. Good luck deciding if that's the one. It's beautiful!

Your big full skirt made up for the intricate bodice. Smiley winking I love how happy the lady next to you is. LOL. Her dress looks like your inspo one! I always felt like it was a competition with the other ladies next to you (at the bridal shops). I honestly never paid much attention to anyone else because I didn't want to lose focus, but I would notice the other brides family/friends looking my way (and not very nicely). Glad that journey's over!
