Inexpensive veils & belts

Kristen, on August 22, 2014 at 2:45 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 23

I bought my dress in May but wanted to shop around for a veil & belt/sash because I wanted to find the perfect ones, not just what was at the store I bought my dress. Besides the wedding shoppe I bought my dress at seemed to have pretty pricey options!

What is the average price for these accessories? Anyone have any tips on finding affordable options or good deals?

My mom bought my veil (I think it was around $300) and I didn't get a belt, but I did find an applique that will be sewn into the waist of my dress, but I have yet to find out that amount.

Take a look at Etsy and see what there is to offer. Also be on the look out for trunk shows at local bridal salons near you

Look on Etsy! There are a LOT of beautiful affordable options there! I purchased my veil for $40. It is SUPER comparable to a $300 one at my bridal salon.

Not sure of your price range, but BHLDN has some pretty belts in their sale section that are very deeply reduced.

Oh em gee -- I was looking at belts at my bridal shop and they were $600 and up! Eek!

I went online and got this AMAZING $40 belt from StarTrimWedding on Ebay -- it's come in and it's fantastic.

I've never bought anything on Etsy. Do they tell you how long it will take to get it?

What abouy bridal stores, does it take a long time to get it like it does with wedding dresses?

Now I'm starting to worry that I have waited too long because I want to have the veil before I decide on a hair style.

I fell in love with a belt at my bridal salon, and it was $550!!! We ended up ordering it anyways because we both loved it so much, and it was very unique. But I still can not believe that we bought a $550 belt!! It's ridiculous. I haven't gotten my veil yet, but I'm hoping to get a discount from my bridal salon, after buying everything else through them and as a courtesy for also working in the wedding industry.

I would shop online, and try Etsy or Amazon. You can also sometimes find things from J Crew when they have a 40% extra off sale items clearance. If you go through a bridal store, the markup is incredible - $300 for a veil with $10 worth of tulle. You'll likely be able to take it home with you that day, but it's going to be overpriced.

Are there any photos of stuff you like? Maybe we can try to find something for you. What length veil? And what kind of belt?

I would like a belt with a lot of sparkle....the entire thing being jewel covered since my dress doesn't have any bling on it.

For the veil, I really like elbow length, two tiered veils with some sparkle trim.

I can try to post a pic when I get home today...

Try craft stores (like Joanns/Micheals). They usually have a bridal section and they're way less expensive than actual bridal stores. I bought one similar to this, and put it on a purple ribbon for my shower dress Smiley smile (see picture!)

My aunt is making my veil for me. With the hair comb, tulle and embellishments, I don't think it cost more than $20! We used an existing veil for the template Smiley smile

The shop i bought my dress at was also expensive. The quoted me 400 for a veil and 375 for a sash. I said, "no thank you!"
