Hey there, Melissa! Welcome to the WeddingWire community.

One of the major factors that can really affect the cost of your reception venue is the guest list. A large guest list means a large wedding, bigger catering bill, etc.

Are you working with a strict budget? How many guests are you planning on inviting? What capacity venue do you need? Do you also have a vision in mind for the venue?

I would try to find a community center, those tend to be more inexpensive

Marina Village has a lot of options depending on the size of your wedding. There are also community centers.

Trying to keep it at 100 people with a $10,000 budget. Not sure if that is even possible

I'm not sure that's possible either, here in California.

I'm from Northern California, so I don't know of any places to recommend in San Diego. But I do know from planning my own wedding, if you want to keep your costs under $10K, you may have to cut your guest list down. The biggest percentage of the cost of the wedding is food/beverage/venue. So, the way to make that cost less is to invite less people. We had hoped to invite 100 people and stay at/under $10K too. But once we researched venues and catering costs, we realized that 100 people was going to cost too much. So, we started cutting our list. Now we are at 68 guests, and we can afford everyone.
