September is my favorite month of the year and depending on where you live it is absolutely gorgeous weather and colors. It could also be chilly but I would love an outdoor ceremony in September. Just make sure to have a good back up plan.

I love an outdoor ceremony, but only if there's an indoor backup plan.

Hey Ann! Welcome to the WeddingWire community! Congratulations on your engagement!

Where are you planning on getting married? What is the weather typically like in September?

As Cyndy mentioned, even if the weather is dry and warm, guests could be a little chilly. It’s a great idea to offer some throws or blankets on the back of guests' chairs in case they need something to wrap around them.

Are you leaning towards one or the other?

We chose our venue for an outdoor ceremony, but only because the backup plan for inclement weather was almost just as nice as outdoors. Otherwise I would've chosen a strictly indoor ceremony venue, it was important for me to love both options if booking for an outdoor ceremony.

Where do you live? In Texas, a September wedding is still VERY hot. Mine is in October and it's really a tossup. This past month has been extremely hot. We opted to do it inside for that reason.

My wedding is this November (11/09) and we will be having our ceremony indoors due to the unpredictable weather of Virginia

I am having a November wedding in Florida, our ceremony will also be outside, technically reception as well but underneath a barn type building. We also have a different barn building in case weather permits us from doing the ceremony outside.

I've always loved the idea of an outdoor ceremony! Ours will be outside. I guess it would just depend on the weather where you live or where you're getting married.

If it's more on the sketch side where it can go either way, I would definitely make sure you have a back up plan. Maybe a tent or cover of some kind or have it inside.

It depends on where you live and the weather.

But I always prefer outdoor over indoor. To me, indoor weddings are so stuffy.

I am getting married in Michigan, where the weather is completely unpredictable. The lake effect is particularly bad in southeast Michigan where I’m getting married. Just this weekend we had 40 MPH winds, and it’s supposed to snow next week. Last year at this time it was still summer weather lol. In the summer it can be too hot and I just know my FH would be super uncomfortable out in the sun for that long. So no question on an indoor wedding for me. We are getting married in a beautiful church and I’m so excited!

My wedding is September 26, 2020. Keep your fingers crossed that it will be all outdoors! Ceremony and reception! I live in the North East so it really depends on the weather in the area you are having your wedding. 2018 it rained almost every. single. day. throughout September. This year the entire last week was BEAUTIFUL 70 degrees and sunny! Just make sure you have a plan B in case of rain/too hot/too cold etc.

I love outdoor weddings but it depends on conditions... will there be bugs or humidity? Will it be cold? Are their heaters? Are their strung lights or good lighting? Just some things to consider. Happy planning!💕

For our September wedding our ceremony was indoor because we got married in a church, but our reception was all outside. The weather turned out to be gorgeous but it was slightly threatened by remnants of a hurricane, so I think it depends on how the weather is where you live.

I'm getting married in Iowa where the weather can do anything pretty much all year round. I've seen it all from snow storms in May and shorts on Christmas. We're planning an outdoor ceremony in November, but have a beautiful indoor option as well. If we're luck, the average high is in the mid 50s. But if its like this year, it could snow next week. FH was a little hesitant when I told him that unless its below 40 we'll be outside.

I'm gonna be the weird one, inside all the way. I always prefer it. Sure outside is beautiful, but I don't like that you can't control the weather!! Even as a guest, it's rarely an ideal temp, it's usually hot hot or chilly. Thankfully most outdoor weddings aren't too long, so I can stand being slightly uncomfortable for a beautiful wedding Smiley smile I knew I wanted to get married inside so I didn't even have to worry about that back up plan haha
