Incorporating your Soroity into your wedding day

I'm looking for any traditions or suggestions for how to incorporation my sorority (Phi Mu) into my wedding day. While this might sound silly to some, my sorority, even after college, has remained very important to me as I'm a collegiate chapter adviser and participate in an Alumnae Chapter locally. I have a ton of sorority sisters who will be attending.

We have a few "Phi Mu" wedding traditions like having a rose colored carnation hidden in the center of bouquets of sorority sister's, wearing your Little Sister's badge on the inside of your dress as your "something borrowed", have pink carnation corsages for sorority sisters who attend, and of course, quatrefoil incorporation where ever possible.

Is anyone incorporating their sorority into their wedding day and how?

Please dont stroll. that is a tradition mainly of NPHC fraternities and sororities .

only you know the best way you can Include YOUR organizations traditions into your wedding.

As a member of an NPHC sorority, we have our own song/chant we do for special occasion such as weddings, which we will do- the 'sweethart song' -for NPHC our practices and traditions dont end when college is over, its a lifelong commitment.

Wow. I have to say that in the 1200ish weddings I've been a part of, I've never seen anything OUTWARDLY sorority oriented.

Honestly Celia, I haven't been to a wedding WITHOUT something fraternity/sorority oriented in a while! As Angel mentioned, members of NPHC organizations commit to a lifetime of service with that organization and it's actually pretty expected at weddings for members of these organizations to somehow acknowledge the bride/groom usually via some form of a sweetheart song or other hymn. There's really nothing college-oriented about it.

Ha ha it is interesting to read! Like when people were describing what they thought candied salmon would be like, I'm making up all sorts of funny stuff in my head about what all this means. Like, NPHC I assume can only mean Neil Patrick Harris College.

Prom is a big deal here, but there's only one the year you grad.

NPHC are basically historically black fraternities and sororities, many of the members are and have been civil rights leaders, trailblazers in their communities etc.

Celia, you live in Jersey, so I'm not surprised. In the South, Sorority incorporation in weddings are super common (from what I've seen).

Angel, I didn't mean it's ONLY a southern thing, just that it's a common thing in the south.

Yeah, it's very common for panhellenic. I wasn't greek, but FH was in a pretty popular fraternity, so I know more about it than I probably should.

@Celia I'm so surprised you've never seen any sorority traditions done!

Upon further research with some of my fellow Phi Mu sisters, I realized that one of our ritual passages from initiation that I've always loved is also a popular wedding ceremony reading, so I'll be incorporating that.

I'm also going to do pink carnation corsages for my sisters in attendance, carnations in my bridesmaid/sorority sisters bouquets, wear my little sisters badge and my grand big will lead a candle passing.

It seems like a lot but I consider my sorority involvement a lifetime commitment. It's part of the woman I am today.

I will have my sorority sisters who are guests sing our sweetheart song to me, and we will stroll for sure. I LOVE my DST!!! It is definitely a lifetime commitment and honors me to have it be part of my biggest life celebration of all.

@Celia it's definitely a highlight at any wedding Smiley smile Hope you experience it someday!
