In need of a ring repair but afraid!

Nae, on December 7, 2019 at 9:42 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8
Hi ladies! Long story short, at the end of November, I noticed that a Diamond was missing. We have the Zales lifetime protection plan but j am so afraid to send my ring to them esp since I was told that it would take 4-6 weeks. The last time I sent send my ring off for a resize I felt like the craftsmanship was horrible and it didn’t lol professional at all. Of course I sent a complain that went no where 😔. I really don’t want them to ruin my ring and I wish he hadn’t brought it from there in the first place 😡.

Has anyone sent in their ring for a repaired zales or one of those chain places ?What was your experience? What was the timeframe of the repair?

Thank you in advance !! In need of a ring repair but afraid! 1

If they’ve messed up that many times and seem to have poor craftsmanship I’d consider maybe bringing it to a different jeweler and having the diamonds reset altogether... may be expensive and annoying, but will probably save you lots of headache longterm. If it’s falling apart already and they’re handling it this poorly... I would not want to deal with that forever!

I think you should get ring insurance from another place, like your homeowners insurance or Jewelers Mutual. And then go to a local jeweler cause I feel the brick and mortar places overcharge and don't care much. That's just been my experience.

I had my ring sized from a 7 to a 10.5, and after we got it back I've been wearing it constantly with no issues. Mine took about 3 weeks. I do think it matters what Zales you take it to and whether you speak to the manager on site - they have the normal warehouse kind of situation and also some more specialized repair workers. I haven't lost any diamonds, but they did mess up part of the yellow gold pattern. 🙄 it's worth a shot, especially if you have the protection plan. Just make sure you're very specific on what you want! For my ring, she said to preserve the yellow gold and they did...just not on the part that looks like a flower.

Things happen and stones fall off. I lost a small stone on my ring after I'd only had it for 6 months. My ring isn't from Zale's, but its from Brownlee which is also a chain. I brought it to the store and they handled everything for me. It only took about 2 weeks to get replaced. I think they told me it could be up to 3.

As far as jewelry repairs, they have a timeframe that they quote but that's just their standard. I ended up bringing my pearl necklace to Reeds Jewelers (another chain) to get re-strung. They quoted me 4-6 weeks because that's literally the timeframe that came out of a booklet. I think it actually ended up taking 2 weeks and some change.

My ring is from Robbins Brothers. We bought the extra protection. I lost a small stone also about 6 months after getting it. I took it in on a Sunday and they had it back to me on Wednesday. They have professional jewelers (not salespeople) on site to do repairs, inspections and cleanings.

Okay so honestly, I didn’t have a good experience with Kay’s for mine. I have a lifetime warranty with them. I lost a diamond, they sent it off, told me it would take 2 weeks. VERY long story short, they lost the ring twice. They almost we’re about to give me a brand new ring because they couldn’t find mine, but then it finally came up. Overall...I was scared and stressed in the moment, but now that my ring is repaired and back to me, it was KIND OF worth it...I’ve only heard bad reviews from Kay’s, so I’m sure Zales wouldn’t be bad. Just because I had a bad experience doesn’t mean you will! Send it off and just keep track of it and call the store for updates. You’ll need that diamond replaced eventually and since you have the warranty, I’d take advantage of that. That diamond should only be around $60-$80.

I feel you completely. They are horrible. In my opinion I would continue to call people to complain till someone is actually able to help you
