Ok, so my fiance's sister is going to be 9 at the time of our wedding. and to put it nicely she is a brat. We don't even babysit for her because she is so bad. she whines and cries when she doesn't get her way, she is extremely hyper and I i dont want her at my wedding. I am having an adults only wedding, even though i wanted 2 small cousins going because they are very well behaved. i know she has to be in the wedding party but her my future mother in law whom i love is the type of person who brings her every where even when she isnt invited. she actually was told not to bring her to an adults only wedding and brought her anyways! i dont know how to handle this without a war. i dont want her ruining my day. it's very formal and there are no children on my side coming and i dont want an exception for a misbaved little girl

Girl, I am having the same problem, only it's my husband's nephew. I know some people don't understand "adult only receptions," but I am not a kid person and openly rejoiced when I had a hysterectomy early this year. I don't want anyone under 18 at my ceremony or reception (at the same site) and my FH feels the exact same way. His mother is refusing to come if we don't invite this child (who has pyschiatric issues...which I know..are not his fault, but I shouldn't have to deal with them either). My FH is more upset that his mother won't be coming to her only son's wedding and is choosing her grandchild over her son for this one day. My FH and I even offered to find a babysitter and pay for the sitter but this wasn't good enough. I offered to give into her for the sake of my fiance, but he said NO! I'm just glad I've got someone that's sticking up for me. In my opinion, your fiance needs to man up a little here or this is what you're entire marriage is going to be like.
