Yesterday I went for my first dress fitting and got told I needed to lose weight. It's not much. The way my dress is, it zips up about half of my back then buttons rest of the way. We got it zipped just fine we just can't get it buttoned. Seamstress told me a 100 times I needed to lose weight. I've...

I just hate I HAVE to do it to be able to fit into my dress.

They should be able to let it out that much. If you can zip it and it just won't button it sounds like it is close to fitting. She should be able to do that.

I would complain about her too. That is ridiculous. And I'd be like "um I'm paying you to make the dress fit me" she should not be trying to make you fit the dress. Altering the dress is her job.

That's pretty rude of her. If you want to lose weight, lose weight to be healthy and for YOURSELF, not for a dress.

I am sorry you're going through this. Even though my dress is not a DB dress I did try them and one thing I noticed was that the seamstress was super nice, and they were all trying to help me and offering different options to modify a dress I really liked but was showing too much. THAT is the attitude you should be looking for right now.

ditch this seamstress, drive longer, but leave the place happy about your dress and yourself. I do think you can loose weight but still i would not stick up with a seamstress who makes me more nervous about things in my wedding.

I know what you ladies are saying. I work 60+ a week, I have a son that just had cranial reconstruction last month so he has a lot of appts a daughter that needs attention, trying to get everything ready for the wedding, I just can't seem to manage to drive almost 2 hours one way for a fitting. I'm just looking at the positive. I've been wanting to lose weight for some time so maybe this is my motivation!

That is so rude of her! I would definitely be contacting the manager at DB to report your poor experience with the salesperson.

You definitely can't change that to a corset, it would look weird and wouldn't function properly at all. The zipper goes to about the mid back in that dress and then it buttons the rest of the way up and is just a lace illusion back. And while I agree that it is rude to tell you to lose weight, this woman may not have realized that since it may be viewed differently in Germany where she is from.

That's rude for her to tell you that. I think you could of realized yourself that if it doesn't zip or button you need to lose weight.. she didn't need to say anything.

I was giving her all my information and she kept telling me I needed to do my part. Let me tell ya I really am. Trying to eat healthy drinking only water. I feel like I'm starving but I'm thinking about that wedding dress and how it'll be perfect once we can get it to button!

That's rude. She could have suggested a larger size if it wasn't comfortable for you to fit in.

That is super rude. While attending an alterations appointment with a friend last year, she was actually told to stop working out in order to let her muscles relax and help her fit in her dress a little easier. I guess that when we try to make physical changes to our bodies we can't always control which parts get bigger or smaller first. Good luck! I'm crossing my fingers and hoping it all works out for the best.

She told you 100 times? That is really rude. Maybe suggest it once, but not 100x.

I wouldn't give that woman my business or my wedding dress to handle. How rude and unprofessional. I'd find a new seamstress and probably leave a review on her page as well. ETA: don't let this woman make you feel like you have to lose weight if you don't want to. You are already beautiful. It can be taken out a little if need be, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Don't push yourself to the limit, you want to have wonderful happy feelings in that dress and not associate it with those negative comments and feelings. You look gorgeous. Find a new seamstress who will treat you with respect and alter your dress to fit your body, not the other way around.
