I'm second guessing my color scheme help

Kayla, on July 15, 2019 at 11:23 PM Posted in Planning 0 23

Hey friends! I am about 117 days out, my bridesmaids have selected their dresses, suits have been chosen, rentals have been reserved and I am beginning to second guess everything. I am going into panic mode. I love dusty blue and all the pins I have pinned for the last year have been dusty blue. My fiance really wanted to incorporate maroon, so the guys were going to have maroon ties and the girls would have dusty blue dresses with dark red flowers in their bouquets to bring it all together. When selecting our rentals, we got a creamy and gold textured table cloth, clear chargers with a gold trim, and maroon napkins because they didn't have dusty blue available. Our centerpieces are gold geometric candle holders and our florist is going to put greenery and flowers down along with some other small gold votives. For our sweetheart table I wanted to use cheesecloth to incorporate more dusty blue I thought of using that color cheesecloth but I can't vision it looking good with the maroon napkins.

I know this sounds silly but I just need reassurance or some suggestions of what colors to use because I feel like I just can't envision anything anymore. HELP!!!!

I think what you're describing sounds lovely. Maybe if you can find the material in person, you'll have a better idea. Or, you can always just go with classic white napkins. Not everything needs to be in the color scheme.

I don't think dusty blue needs to be in everything, if you get me.

I looked up this color scheme and wow- this looks super trendy and beautiful to me (I’m an nyc chick getting married in Brooklyn)! Check out Pinterest boards on dusty blue and burgundy/maroon weddings. I think you’ll feel a ton better after you do. It has a way of looking so organic but with pops of gorgeous color! Perfect for a November wedding too. The dusty blue cheese cloth is a great idea to tie in that color a bit more.. this will be a rustic vibe in a good way I believe. Don’t second guess!!!

I think the colors and way you described everything sounds like they're going to look really pretty together. If you don't want maroon napkins, you can do white/ivory. It matches everything.

So my girls are wearing a denim blue but that's about all the blue there will be. The florals are fall colors with some creams and mauves mixed in and blue thistle. I purposely picked a dark dress color that was unique and would make the flowers pop. I don't think you need to put the blue everywhere because the maroon gold and greenery work well together. I chose to use my blue in other aspects like our STD and invitation suite. I could do denim blue napkins but those cost extra and I am really not about spending more money anymore so the napkins will just be white. I think people get caught up that the dress color needs to be throughout and it most certainly does not. I have seen many weddings where it is just a complimentary color to the rest of the theme. My friend had the girls wear steel blue but her flowers were calla lillies, baby's breath, and light blue hydrangea. The theme of her wedding was more so the yellow and baby blue color not the steel blue.

We're doing dusty blue as well! Our accent colors are silver and white, but I think adding maroon sounds really pretty! Like PP have said, maybe incorporate more whites and golds to tie it all together more if you feel like it's a bit maroon heavy?

I'm just not sure how I feel about white with the table cloth we chose. It looked odd. What do you think about incorporating navy napkins to help tone it back? I'll post pics in a sec!

That's a good point not every color has to be full out on display.

Thank you! I think the colors are great, it's just properly using the colors in the right place so it looks classy and elegant and not like I just threw colors around a room.

Thanks so much! I love it too it's just using it right which I'm finding to be more difficult than I had originally anticipated.

Navy, dusty blue, and maroon? Totally up to you! Personally that's too much color for me. I just love the dusty blue color so much that I tried to pick more neutral colors (white, gray) to go with it so it would stand out. But your wedding, your decision!

Thanks girl! I just think white would look weird with the table cloth we've chosen. I'm about to post a pic!

Here’s the ladies dresses, men’s suit colors, our rentals, and the venue. It’s a conceptual picture because it’s mid construction!

If your freak out is just because of your head table tablecloth not matching the napkins get a set of white napkins just for that table if it matters that much to you. I think it sounds great and unless there is something you love waaaaay more I can't see justifying scraping what you have. I think the picture you just posted looks elegant with the off gold cloths and red napkins.

It sounds beautiful. I have second guessed my colors lots of times because I stumble across pinterest boards of different colors and I love them, i just tell myself I chose this scheme for a reason Smiley smile I think this is pretty common honestly! It sounds beautiful though from what you have described. You may want to tone down some of decor colors though if you're second guessing? We did navy, coral and grey as our colors. Guys in Grey suits, Women in Navy dresses and bringing the coral out in the flowers and decorations. We are going pretty minimal though honestly. My centerpieces are white, blue and coral. Napkins Navy and coral and thats pretty much it decor wise and what not besides bouquets and clothing that incorporate our colors. I didn't want to over due anything!

I personally think the venue calls for dusty blue, maroon, and gold. I think adding the navy is too much personally! I see what you mean by the white not matching the gold table cloths, so I would just stick with the maroon.
