No, seriously. I have (personal opinion) an odd body type. (No offense if you have a similar one). Every place I've seen seems to like a certain body type, which I don't have. So I'm looking for advice on materials, styles, and shapes of dresses that can make me a more pretty potato on my special...

You are not a potato. The consultants at the bridal shops should be able to give you options that will make you look and feel beautiful. Just trust the process! You are Beautiful!

You are not a potato or a pear or a pizza or a pineapple. You are not food. You are a beautiful human. Try on every silouhette and style to get a feel for what you like. Don't limit yourself because you think something might not work, you might be surprised with what you fall in love with. Don't stress, and just have fun!

You look like a pear shape, actually. I found out that's what I am about a year ago. Great hour glass shape but your hips are bigger than your bust. it's a great shape! I got an A-Line dress and love it. Honestly, I think you could look great in an a-line, a ballgown, or a mermaid (and I don't like mermaid dresses). Depending on the dress, you could also get a belt to accentuate the waist more and emphasize the curves you have.

Try on different styles. Wedding gowns are built to make you look good. And don't discount a form fitting dress. Every fashion blogger out there will tell you that wearing bigger sizes will NOT make a person look smaller. Form fitting (curve skimming, hip hugging- whatever) will do more for any size than loose billowy clothing. But then again, ballgowns are gorgeous. And you can sit in them easier. :-)

Try dresses with corset tops or empire style dresses. ETA - or A-line

I feel like we have similar body types, never did I think I would go with a mermaid style dress, in fact when the stylist brought it in to me, all I could picture was my hips and thighs screaming NOOOOO! But wow, once I put it on, in love, bought it & can't wait to wear it. Please don't rule out any styles when you go shopping because whatever box body type you think you may have. You are gorgeous and I know so many ladies who would die for curves!! Can't wait to see your "I said yes! " Post!

Yes try on everything! I literally hated mermaid style and refused to even try it on at first. And guess what I bought...

A-line style dresses usually flatter any body type

Try on everything! Do not think that one style is for just a certain body style. Keep your kind open and be very clear and honest with your consultant! Enjoy the appointment and do not settle!

You're not a potato! I've felt insecure too because I have curves. It makes it difficult to fit into clothes. Just be patient when we go dress shopping and don't be afraid to try any kind of style. Pick whatever makes you feel beautiful.

You have curves and a waist, UNLIKE a potato. Try on every style first- you may be surprised what looks best!
