Im a horrible decorator

Fmv, on August 6, 2019 at 3:00 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 10
Does anyone else feel like they are horrible at decorating and matching things? I keep seeing everyones decor photos and everything seems to flow and coordinate.
With me, I just buy things i like and hope they match or look good together lol
But for wedding decor, im so stuck on what to even do. We are doing fall themed, but i dont want it to be like tacky fall.
I also have NO idea what to do for centerpieces

Look on Pinterest at what tickles your fancy then build from there. You can start with “fall wedding” or search your wedding colors and then find what you like about each picture. Then you can use a collage app to put them next to each other to visualize them together. For my wedding I’m not going to have a “centerpiece” I’m going to have long tables with different candlesticks, floral arrangements, terrariums, etc. Pick your colors and and accent metal/color (brass, silver, gold, copper, white, black) and start there! Then it will become uniquely you!

I agree with PP that Pinterest is seriously the best inspiration. If it helps you to see things in person, you can go to Hobby Lobby or Michael's and look at items side by side. That's what I had to do. I grabbed the lantern that I liked and paired it with flowers in our colors to see how it looked.

I agree. I started on Pinterest. I made a main wedding board and then broke that board down to different categories.

I am totally the same way! We did an add on with our DOC to do a design session one day so she could help us figure out what the heck we wanted to do

I’m just buying what I like and hoping it all comes together. Pinterest doesn’t help me at all, it just stresses me out because then I compare my wedding to styled shoots or my DIY to craft goddesses. I just can’t do it.

My problem is that I like ALL the ideas on Pinterest and obviously you can't have everything. We spoke with a wedding planner at a wedding expo and she said she liked visiting her clients' home to get a feel for their style and to see if there is any decor she can use for the ceremony or reception. So, to merge our venue location and theme (we're getting married at Hershey Gardens), we're using the vases from our home, filling them with Hershey's candy, which also matches our table assignments (the Krackle table, Kit Kat table, Twizzlers table, etc.), then placing flowers and greenery around the vase, and then votives of some sort around the flowers. Our colors are jewel tones with a smattering of dusty blue and copper/rose gold to match my e-ring.

I felt exactly the same way! Browsing Pinterest really helped me narrow down what looks and combinations I liked the best. I gave my Pinterest board to my vendors when they inquired about my vision and it seemed to provide them with enough guidance. We were lucky that the package provided by our venue took care of a lot of large items like string lights and printing our custom table signs. To decorate the tables, I left a lot to my florist (centerpieces, garlands, extra arrangements).

So originally our colors were navy blue, burgundy and some golds. But slowly they have been turning more fall shades. The bridesmaids dresses will he wine color.
I ended up buying mine and my wedding party flowers from a past bride. Ill attach a photo.
And by tacky i mean like fall decor turning into halloween- definitely dont want that.
My fiance wants centerpieces to include jack daniel bottles and the rest is up to me. Not sure what to do with that. Also we arent having real flowers at all day of the wedding
