I loooove love loooove my dress. It is everything I could ever ask for. Except one thing. I have very sensitive skin, and I realized at my most recent try on that, my dresses Illusion neckline rubs me BRIGHT red. Around my neckline and ESPECIALLY the arms. I dont have a picture of this, but I will...

I loooove love loooove my dress. It is everything I could ever ask for. Except one thing.

I have very sensitive skin, and I realized at my most recent try on that, my dresses Illusion neckline rubs me BRIGHT red. Around my neckline and ESPECIALLY the arms. I dont have a picture of this, but I will post a picture of me in the dress(sorry they are retched pictures)

what should I do??? Should I consider taking away the illusion neckline? I love it, but I could PROBABLY do without it and not be too heart broken.

Any advice or experience would be GREATLY apreciated. Thank you

Hydrocortisone or go to a fabric store and see what they can give you that's nude so you can have it lined. It can be done so that it doesn't change the effect if you find the right fabric.

We are opting to take it off. Its just much easier. Actually, we already took it off yeaterday, the zipper just has to be shortened now!

In response to a few, i did discuss this with my seamstress, she said it is a VERY common complaint, and that she notices it is mainly with bustier gals. (Which I am lol) anyways, she told me that 9 times out of 10 they usually end up taking it off because it is just too uncomfortable.

Also, lining it wasnt an option. I am like, the wrong color for nude to look like my skin. I have yet to find anything in ANY material that matches my skin tone lol also, I dont think that would have helped much, as it would have still rubbed there.

Its funny, because the dress I originally picked out, that I would have purchased had it still been available when I went to buy my dress, was strapless, and was almost Identical to the way my dress is now. Its like it was meant to be or something.

The only reason i evem wanted the illusion neckline is because i saw it on greys anatomy and loved it. But my mother and I agree with a bunch of you. We like it better without the neckline. I dont look so... idk. Matronly lol. Its more modern for sure. And considering we are getting a huge petticoat to go up under it to make it a ball gown, it will look better this way.

thank you all for your sweet compliments on my gown!

I think it looks lovely without the neckline, and I actually think I might like it a tad better! Good luck with the rest of your alterations. Smiley smile

Can you show a close up of the illusion section and back of the little piece, what kind of material is it. My aunt is an amazing seamstress, she is making my dress and i can ask her what she could suggest.

What if you get rid of it, but get some sort of illusion balero? You could possibly have it made from the existing neckline, or find something similar. That way you can wear it for some pictures and the ceremony but be able to take it off when it starts getting itchy?

We aLready took the illusion off of it. It feels 1000 times mor comfortable, less hot and itchy, and now I can wear a necklace. Thank you all for your help!

Was it easy for them to remove the illusion top? I am having the same issue! Super sensitive skin, not sure why I didn't think about it... Probably because I fell in love with the illusion top. I think I'll have to remove it cause I'm not sure how I will last pictures, ceremony, and all of reception, I'd be bleeding red. Are you happy with your decision? I just don't want it to be difficult for alterations
