Illinois August Brides

We have our date for August 22,2020 in Homer Glen close by Orland Park, Illinois. We are still planning to move forward with it. But I don’t know now if we should continue planning anymore, our venue told us it is too early to put a hold on another date, they told us to wait until June. All our vendors are booked, we are waiting last minute to send invitations but we do not want to have them printed if we will have to postpone. What are you girls doing? Did you postpone or are you still keeping your plans?

We were originally supposed to get married on May 16th and postponed to August 15th. Two weeks after we postponed, our reception venue cancelled all events through August. They gave us the option to postpone or cancel and we chose to cancel. Postponing once was hard enough. Our church is still available for August 15th, but we cut our guest list to parents, grandparents, and bridal party for safety. My parents offered to host a little reception in their backyard. We're actually kinda excited about a little backyard wedding!
I'd be concerned about how many people are allowed to gather in August. It seems like 50 people would be allowed, but it's unsure. I'm assuming venues have to adhere to restrictions put in place by the governor. I'm not sure how many people you plan to invite, but maybe rework the list if it's over 50. People have been really understanding of the whole situation. It sucks that we had to "uninvite" guests, but everyone has been really cool with it.
Things are changing so quickly, so I'd wait until June to make a decision. You'll hopefully have a better idea by then 🤞

I am August 1 over in Iowa! We are going ahead as normal with planning. I just sent invites this past weekend and included a little note about monitoring the COVID situation. We are also beginning to open things up in our state.

We’re August 1st in the Chicago burbs. We’ve decided to postpone to next year. As much as we would of loved to continue with our big wedding, a lot of our guests would not be able to come and I didn’t want to put anyone at risk considering even my parents are older with health issues.

    Hi Alejandra,

I'm sorry you're having to think about postponing your August wedding on top of planning your big day. eyFYBiGtFgC4Ag-LxBWWMP5UvJmt7cCKk6ZuRGas

I agree with the recommendations above. While this is definitely an uncertain time, it seems like plenty of August couples are waiting to make postponement decisions. Of course, everyone's situation is different, so it never hurts to be proactive about plan B!
