If your DJ played the wrong 1st dance song what would you expect after?

Just looking for some opinions to see if I'm expecting too much or making too big of a deal out of the situation.

A little more background- The song was clearly defined in the wedding planning packet and confirmed in e-mails prior to the wedding. The correct song was played much much later in the evening but probably didn't make it onto our wedding film or into pictures as by the time he played it our pros for video and photos were leaving and we were sharing the dance floor with everyone rather than it being Our own dance.

After laughing a bit, I'd stop dancing and tell the DJ he's got the wrong song. Nicely, of course. Then dance with the husband. And announce that they should use take two. Haha.

If he's commenting on your WeddingWire review with information that's not true (that he sent an apology and partial refund), I would politely let him know that you received neither and make sure he has your correct contact info, AND I would contact WeddingWire and let them know what's going on.

I'm not a DJ, but I do know how couples feel about their first dance. Every time you imagined your reception, you imagined yourself dancing to a specific song. As a vendor, I would feel truly awful for messing up on something that took place under such a spotlight. As a vendor, I would have offered you a partial refund.

If you don't get one soon, write to the DJ and tell him that in accordance with his response to your review, you want a partial refund. Let him know that you've already screenshot the page, and you're willing to use it in small claims court, if necessary (it won't be). You'll win (because he's already given you a written statement acknowledging fault and extending an offer to make you whole), although the amount of the award is uncertain.

Future brides: if the DJ plays the wrong song, just stop dancing, look at the DJ, and let him know. It may cause a few seconds of confusion for your guests, but in the long run, that mood will be trumped by first dance.

Ack! He lied about your comment?!?

I'm with you ... THAT would tick me off as much as, if not more than, the original mistake! Can you edit your review? Reduce the rating you gave him? If you can't do those things, I would add another comment to clarify. UGH.

DH is drafting an e-mail to him. It makes me mad to that he over-played DH saying thanks as we left as being out of his way thanks and praise and points out guests said he did a good job and makes me out to be a B*tch for writing a fair and honest review (hell I gave him a 3.9 even though music cut out during dancing and he played the wrong first song)
