If YOU are a bridesmaid-do you give a check to the couple?

I'm just wondering how other people feel about this- I've been a bridesmaid three times now. We all know how expensive everything is to be one, but regardless I've given a check each time because I'm so close with all three brides. Do you also give a check/monetary gift?

    Always a shower and wedding gift. But I don't expect gift from anyone. I know atleast one of our BP probably won't and that's fine by me!

    I did, however I told my bridesmaids I do not expect any gifts from them as they are already putting time and money into my wedding.

    I most definitely give a check. I am still a guest at the wedding.

    Sure if I can. I think I didn't give a gift once, but that wedding cost me over $1200 and I was unemployed.

    I received gifts from 3 out of 5 of my BM.
