Ideas on asking nieces to be flower girls

Tiana, on June 22, 2016 at 7:35 PM Posted in Planning 0 11

I have three future nieces and would like them all to participate as flower girls in my outdoor backyard wedding. I have no ideas on how to ask them. They are 2, 3 and 5. They are also very girly girls.

Just ask them - you don't need to go above and beyond. I'm sure they will be excited.

You say, "Will you be my flower girl?" I think that's all you need. I think people get a little caught up in trying to "propose" to their wedding party. With their young ages, you can't even do the cutesy cards or gifts that actually ask them since they can't read (except maybe the 5 year old).

My daughter and FH's daughters are 3 and 6. We asked if they wanted to be involved and as soon as pretty dresses were mentioned, it was a resounding yes.

I don't think you really need to go all out for flower girls, it could just be really simple. I've seen on Pinterest the ring pop proposal, giving them a cute necklace (that doubles as the day-of jewelry), puzzles, etc. I asked my Jr. Bridesmaid with a decorated box that contained nail polish, earrings, a floral crown, and a candy bar - along with a note card that asked.

I went to Hobby Lobby and just got this little purse(it's like $3) to ask my sister with and she loved it! She takes it everywhere. She's 2 almost 3

Sorry I don't have a pic of just the purse

They are pretty young. Do they understand what a flower girl does? Maybe read a picture book to them about a flower girl and then ask them if they would like to do that for your wedding.

Thank you all so much for the ideas. I guess I'm making it sound harder than it should be.

I got mine these confetti poppers. She omitted the "hell yeah" and just put "hurray" as both are under 6 years old. I think they would be cheaper to make but I didn't have the time and I'm not crafty at all. They live far away so I wanted to do a little bit more than a phone call but not go overboard.

I put together these boxes. There is a shirt that says flower girl, ring pops, a flowery sippy cup, a grow your own sunflower and the pinkalicious book about being a flower girl. I covered it in fake petals. Each box probably cost around $35, but their reactions were priceless! Mine are 2 and 4.
