Ideas for local orchestra for ceremony

Rosie, on January 17, 2015 at 3:51 AM Posted in Planning 0 5

Just wondering if anyone has any good ideas where I can find a decent orchestra/band to play a few songs for the ceremony. Mostly a little prior to the bridal party and when I walk down the aisle. Thanks!!!

I'm also having live music at my ceremony! I'm having a string trio and they're staying through cocktail hour. Use the vendor tab above ^^ and also ask your venue if they have any preferred vendors they work with.

Contact a local school or colleges music department in your area for musicians.

We had bluegrass/folk band play. They aren't a wedding band - they actually tour around the US playing their original songs. We had two fiddles (who also played guitar) and a cello - it was beautiful. :-)

You'll probably have better luck with a chamber group rather than a full orchestra--a quartet, trio, or something similar. I second the recommendation to check with any local college music departments. You can also look into vendors on here, but groups that do weddings as a main business can often be very pricy.

I used the WW vendor tab to locate our ceremony musicians. Since we had a smaller wedding we hired a string duo (cello/violin) and it really added elegance to the ceremony. They also played 30 mins before the start of the ceremony while guests arrived.
