Ideas for Engaging Guests with Virtual Ceremony?

Sarah, on May 10, 2020 at 4:27 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 3

Hi y'all!

Illinois bride here and given the Restore Illinois plan announced May 5th, I'm looking at changing up my wedding day. If we hit phase 4 of the plan before October, we can have a max of 50 guests gather in person. (Phase 5 would be unlimited but requires a vaccine/treatment for COVID-19 be readily available, which seems like a big ask for October). We're still planning on getting married on our original 2020 date with the smaller gathering, but will be postponing the reception we'd planned for a 200-person guest list. We want to livestream the ceremony for the guests we can't have with us on the day, but is there anything else we can do to let them know we're thinking of them?

You could write their names on a list and recipe it before the ceremony. Kind of like an opening, and something to show how they are missed.

Or if you want, you could print their profile pictures and stick it somewhere to symbolize their attendance.
And, a screenshot of them would be fun to share afterwards!

We had guests on Zoom during our ceremony but we didn’t really acknowledge them until the end when we showed them our rings up close to the camera and thanked them for joining us. A few hours later we had another Zoom with everyone for a virtual cocktail hour and people gave speeches and my husband and I also said a few words. It was very personal and definitely fun to see everyone with a cocktail!

    Hi Sarah,

I am loving the suggestions given above! I'm so sorry you may have to alter your big day. But, I'm happy to hear you are being so proactive about plan b!

I just wanted to pop in here to let you know I am thinking about you. I'm certain whatever you decide is going to be so lovely.
