Ideas for bridesmaid gifts

DENEDRA, on May 5, 2021 at 9:16 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8

I am having a hard time coming up with a good gift to give my bridesmaids. I thought about making a basket filled with things but not sure how much and what to include. Any ideas or suggestions???

Try to think of things that they each like individually, as opposed to getting the same gift for each one! For example, someone who loves wearing makeup might enjoy a personalized travel makeup bag and a gift card to a nearby makeup shop. Someone who loves sports might enjoy a T-shirt with their favorite team's logo on it and tickets to a game. Someone who loves concerts might enjoy a ticket stub book to put their concert tickets in and a new pair of headphones. Otherwise, tote bags, travel jewelry cases, personalized wine glasses, jewelry, and candles are all popular ideas! It really depends on what your bridesmaids interests are and what you think they'd like best.

I'm doing kind of a mish mash of things. I found a set of 5 tote bags for $50 on Etsy, so I ordered those for my girls and me with our names embroidered on them. I know they'll be able to use these again because in Connecticut, we have a 5 cent bag fee at ALL stores, so we have to bring bags with us everywhere and you can never have too many! Then I'm having wine glasses made for each girl with their favorite Disney character on them to use the morning of, I'm getting each a flannel shirt to wear the day of while we get ready, and then I'm doing an individual gift of something they like. For one of my girls I'm getting her a coffee mug warmer, another I'm getting a charcuterie board and tools, one I'm getting either earrings from Kate Spade or a wristlet from Kate Spade, and the other 2 I'm still figuring out, but it'll be something they personally like. I wanted my girls to be able to reuse most of what I've given them so I'm avoiding having anything that says anything about my wedding on it.

Also, I totally agree with Allie! I would avoid anything with the word "bridesmaid" on it, and also avoid putting your name and/or wedding date on the gifts, since they might not get used after the wedding. Personalizing things with their own names on it is fine though!

I had 4 girls in my bridal party. I got them each a gray/white tote bag with their names on it along with a white travel makeup bag also with their names on it. I then went to Ulta and picked out a bunch of little items such as face masks, lip balm, hair tyes, lotions, etc. They all loved it! Oh and also a card asking them if they would be my bridesmaid😁

Shop like it’s their birthday and get something related to personal interests/hobbies. Avoid anything with titles/date. Jewelry and getting ready attire are props for photos, not gifts for them

I agree that getting ready attire and jewelry intended to be worn at the wedding aren't really considered gifts. However, jewelry given with no expectation/requirement of it being worn at the wedding would definitely be considered a gift.

I really struggled with gifts, too, but I finally was able to figure it out. I am getting each of my bridesmaids a leather wristlet (it's slightly larger than a wristlet actually) each in a color that they really like made by a local leather goods business and then I am getting them each a candle from a local maker in a Champagne Toast scent. I am also paying for hair and makeup (not because I demanded they have it done, but because I thought it would be nice to pamper everyone).

Get everyone earrings or something. Shopping for each person individually is too stressful
