Ideas for a virtual anniversary party

Catherine, on April 9, 2020 at 1:29 AM Posted in Parties and Events 0 4

So my Mom and Dad are having their 30th wedding anniversary next week and they were about to have a party but now we decided to have a virtual party with the guests joining via Skype and video calls. I live in different city and can't attend as well but I'm thinking of something interesting to entertain the guests and my parents with. They already booked a Smartshow 3D video about their family life with all the photos and so on to show us all. I thought about singing something while my FH will be playing the guitar, will this be okay?? If so, what song do I choose? I thought about Love Story by Taylor Swift but idk. Thanks for helping!!

I think either of those would be so sweet. Do you know what their first dance song was from their wedding? Or could you ask a close family member - that would be a sweet memory for them.

ou could also have a cake or cupcakes delivered from a small bakery in their home town? Lots of places are doing door dash - I used a local place called Hotbox ( fresh warm cookies delivered to your door) as a surprise once too.

They didn't have a wedding of the kind we ll dream of, they just had it in a formal way. But I like the idea of the delivery, it is something I didn't think of! Thanks!

    HI Catherine,

What a sweet, thoughtful way to celebrate your parents!

Here's a few activities that you could add to the list:

    - Order food - you could start by ordering from the same restaurant or choosing the same type of cuisine (if you're in different places) - pizza, Thai food, whatever the couple enjoys!

    - Show & Tell - each guest shares a story/memory or finds a photo of the couple

    - Open gifts - if there's not enough time to ship, guests can wrap their own gifts and take turns opening them

    - Play the Shoe Game - you've probably seen this one at weddings, and I think it would be a good time on a video call as well (see this tried-and-true WeddingWire article for questions: What The Heck is the Shoe Game and Why You Should Do It )

    Have so much fun!
