Idea for Unconventional Bridesmaid Bouquets

Paige, on January 3, 2020 at 9:06 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 6

I live in Seattle, and for the bridesmaids bouquets I had a fun (but maybe crazy?) idea. The day before the wedding, we'll all go to Pike Place Market (a huge daily market in Seattle with food and treats and knick-knacks of all kind, including TONS of beautiful and well-priced flowers), and each bridesmaid will pick out her own bouquet (including some guidelines, photo inspiration, and a budget).

All the bouquets will look different, but I'm hoping that if I tell them to include a certain flower or keep it in a certain color family, that they'll all work together.

Is this idea too ludicrous to work or do you think it's feasible? Have you ever heard of having bridesmaids choose their own bouquets?

Sounds fun. Maybe you could find your vendor there weeks ahead and arrange to come by to purchase.

I love the idea! Keep in mind the days leading up to your wedding can be crazy and the last minute things that can come up, that will need your attention. You'll have your rehearsal, maybe your nail appointments, etc. Just something to keep in mind!

I think it sounds like a great idea, but at the same time, you will probably have a lot of last minute things to do the day before the wedding. I thought I had everything planned out and under control, but multiple fires needed putting out that day to where I barely had time to shower and get ready for the rehearsal dinner. I would just be mindful of all the other things you'll have to do that day to make sure you will have the time and aren't just adding more stress onto yourself.

The flowers at the market are so beautiful and inexpensive. I at one point even considered driving from eastern Washington to get flowers at the market. I agree with PPs that things might get a little hectic with last minute tasks and downtown traffic, especially around the market can be a challenge, but I love the idea of mismatched bouquets with a common theme to tie them together. I think it will look gorgeous!

It sounds fun. But like PPs, time is always a factor. I had some last minute things to pick up the day before the wedding and ended up being an hour late to the rehearsal dinner and everybody had already eaten when we finally got there. And I stayed up until 1am finishing some last minute DIYs. Soooooo not worth the stress to put things off

Thanks everyone for the great feedback. Sounds like it could add unnecessary last minute stress, so I might go a more conventional route for the bouquets.
