I would love your input on chair covers

I am considering purchasing banquet chair covers- but the economy polyester ones. I am wondering how they look!? If you have seen them do they look cheap?

I hate them, People get their feet caught in them trying to get up and you can't tuck your legs under your chair, which is comfortable for me. Older folks are a huge fall risk for them.

If the chairs are really bad I would definitely do the covers. Our venue comes with them and I hated them so much. Luckily, they said they ordered chiavari chairs and will come in right before our wedding. I'm debating of still keeping the bows...

UO- but I'm doing chair covers as well. They are a part of the package from our venue. They offer white or black covers and, what I loving refer to as "chair bandeaus" in several colors as well. I've never seen pictures of the chairs without the covers but they seem like sturdy, non-folding chairs. We have not even begun to figure out what color combos we will use since we are so far out.

I believe that if you want chair covers, do them. It would never be something I would have gone out of my way for, but they're a part of the decor at our venue, so chair covers it is! Honestly at the end of the day, I doubt any of your guests will even be able to tell you if your chairs had covers. Hopefully they're having too much fun to care or notice!

At my nieces wedding this past Saturday they had these stretchy white things over the chairs. They were not pretty. They covered the whole chair so you could not put your legs under the chair. (they came like that with her venue.) With the plastic chairs you pictured maybe you could do some sort of sash on the back.

The chairs at my hall are ugly, so I am in the same spot.

You all are amazing. So here is the deal, I rented chivari chairs for the reception. Cocktail hour is in a room where my guest have to walk through our reception area to get to the cocktail hour. Here is a pic of the chairs...just so you all can feel me. Please let me know your thoughts. You all are the best...just to note my colors are greenery, white and deep lavender. The green and white are only from the flowers. Accent metallic is gold.

Those aren't so bad, but the really don't go with your colors. If anything, there are chair covers that cover the back of the chair only that look nice. Tableclothsfactory.com has some good options that are cheap (i.e. many less than a dollar a piece) and of good quality (ie not the shiny polyester look). I purchased them so I personally can vouch for the quality.

I'm glad I saw this thread- I was considering chair covers too. Glad to know I can put that money toward something else!

Those chairs look awesome. Are these just for cocktail hour? I don't think it would be necessary to rent any others if this is what you have to use.

At first I wanted chair covers too, but a suggestion from a friend noted that they tend to take away from the centerpieces and tend to look cheap. After looking at multiple pictures, I agreed!

If those are just for cocktail hour, I say skip the chair covers and save some money. The chairs are just fine, and even if they weren't no one would be looking at the chairs, I can PROMISE you that.

When I worked for a caterer, we had those same types of chairs and once the tables were beautifully done up, no one even noticed the chairs, not even the bride and groom.

The fitted chair covers are a better option than standard chair covers.

I haaaaaaaate them. I feel like they were a thing 10 years ago, but now they look dated. I like what Future Mrs. G posted though!

I personally HATE chair covers. I hate the way they look & feel. I feel like my chair gets caught up in it when I get up. I'd put money towards other chairs instead. In my area padded wood chairs were $2 more to rent each than chair covers.
