I won your raffle at the Bridal Expo???

Jillian, on February 2, 2011 at 10:54 AM Posted in Planning 0 11

I got a voicemail from Grabari Studios (photography, videography, & DJ) located in Roselle, saying that I was picked in one of their drawing at this past bridal expo and to call them back. I haven't had the chance to call them back yet, but I did some research online and read some reviews and I've seen a lot of mixed feelings on them. I'm skeptical that if they offer me a super good deal that I could be gambling with the quality of my photographs.

We haven't found a photographer yet and we have a meeting scheduled for this Saturday with Studio One, but now that I got this call I'm wondering what I should do. What if they offer me a really good deal???

Has anyone had experience with this company???

I have no idea yet... They left a voicemail yesterday, so I was going to call today (if they're opened - considering the Chicago blizzard we are having right now). I'm going to see what they have to offer, but I just took a better look at their website and I'm NOT convinced that even if it was free it would be worth it.

Lol! I've been getting emails left n right after the nyc show! My fh got a call that we won a 3 day honeymoon from prestige wedding. And a $400 coupon from some lazer comp. Anyway I'm a bit skeptical about all of it. But check them out and becareful. Don't give any money upfront.

Yeah, I'm just going to see what they have to say, but most likely they won't be our choice. Now, if they give us free photography, then we'll hire them and hire our own photographer Smiley winking

Yeah I have "won" a bunch of stuff too. One being the "3 day honeymoon" which when I pressed them on it was that time share pitch weekend that everyone offers. I listen to all of their "you were selected" speeches but have found that only one was a real prize -- Mary Kay product.

After the bridal show, I "won" a bunch of free things as well.

The typical photography prize is a free session and 1 8x10 print. Then, you get a 'discount' on purchasing whatever package of additional prints you want. They are typically more quantity, not quality photographers.

A talented wedding photographer will give away a real package (if they do a giveaway). They don't have to use some gimmick to get you in their office- their work and reputation speaks for itself.

Frankly, if the reviews aren't good- I wouldn't even waste your time. If you won something of real value, they will contact you again and again until the reach you.

I would give them a call schedule a dry run kind of deal like an engagement session, if you don't like them then don't go with them. just to see what they are offering.

Yeah, I figured that would be the case...well, luckily all you ladies are smart enough to not get suckered in Smiley smile

I'll see what they have to say and at worst...it'll be comical. It's just too bad that actually "winning" something isn't just that and there's always small print to follow.

We won a 3 day honeymoon. The catch was that we had to sit through a 90 minute cooking paraphernalia presentation where they'd most likely pressure the hell out of us to buy something. Nope, that's ok thanks.

Did you read the WW reviews? They aren't good at all:

Could you use them (if it is free) for some other event, like your rehearsal dinner, shower, engagement shoot, etc. and still hire another photographer for your wedding (when the pictures really matter)?
