So a few weeks ago I went to a bridal show and basically just put my name in for everything. It was smaller so I remember each and every one of the vendors. A few had some drawings you could enter. Two weeks ago I got a call about winning something from a cutlery booth that was set up there. I...

Two weeks ago I got a call about winning something from a cutlery booth that was set up there. I didn't follow through because I remember the vendor being totally sketchy. Plus, I think when you "win" something, they really just tell every bride that entered that they won.

Now, ANOTHER vendor calls me from a different company. I remember the lady being super sweet and down to earth. She let me know that I won as well...this time my choice of a 3 day, 2 night stay in either Mexico or the Bahamas (not much time, but still would be fun!) or wedding bands for both FH and myself. She said I was one of two brides that won in the Rochester area (maybe, maybe not).

Continued....

These trips are usually things that you have to pay for airfare, or a minimum nuber of nights, or some other kind of catch. Its probably real becaus ethere are vouchers for thesethings all over the place but its unlikely you wouldnt have to spend money.

Sounds like one of those timeshare things (not that it is timeshare.) Most of the times they sound sketchy, but its actually real. As long as you have the ability to say no and stay firm when they try and pressure you, you can go and get what they say they are going to give you.

Reading the comments reminded me of a call I got a few year ago. It went like this. The person called and said that they are trying out this new cruise line and I would be able to get free airfare and a free cruise if I agreed to bring someone and try it out. After pressing the woman for information she told me that we would have to pay $500 each for some weird tax or something.

I went to the show and I bought the 23 pic set. Here's the thing, I have 4 teenagers and let me tell you, you're going to spend a lot of money replacing your pots and pans. I would have bought them without the free gifts but from a lot of cooking experience in my 36 years of life, this set is worth the money. You set up a payment plan and this helps to actually boost your credit. It's a great start for a young couple before you have kids. After you have them you'll be thankful that you bought the set.
