I won yet another bridal show give-away...

So a few weeks ago I went to a bridal show and basically just put my name in for everything. It was smaller so I remember each and every one of the vendors. A few had some drawings you could enter. Two weeks ago I got a call about winning something from a cutlery booth that was set up there. I...

Two weeks ago I got a call about winning something from a cutlery booth that was set up there. I didn't follow through because I remember the vendor being totally sketchy. Plus, I think when you "win" something, they really just tell every bride that entered that they won.

Now, ANOTHER vendor calls me from a different company. I remember the lady being super sweet and down to earth. She let me know that I won as well...this time my choice of a 3 day, 2 night stay in either Mexico or the Bahamas (not much time, but still would be fun!) or wedding bands for both FH and myself. She said I was one of two brides that won in the Rochester area (maybe, maybe not).

Mrs. Webb- for the company Dinner 4 Two? Or another company?

I specifically signed up for this one, it wasn't just a call out of the blue. Just curious...

I won that same thing! FH and i actually went to the demo...it was cool. Nice products but expensive! And not a full meal. You get to split a plate (we totally went to McDonald's after. Lol) And for the rings u have to pay a $25 shipping cost. There are select locations for the trip but a $100 deposit.

Thanks, Steph. Was that for the same company that I mentioned?

Everyone wins. Its not a scam so much as just a waste of time. The prize is super hard to redeem, they give you barely any food and try and sell you stuff the entire time.

Good to know, everyone. Thank you all for your experiences and feedback. I'll talk to FH tonight and we will make a decision based on your feedback!

If we end up going I'll definitely update you all in case you get contacted by the same vendor.

@Felicia- where from exactly? I'm from Batavia! We actually had a thread going the other day about a social for WNY brides to meet up in person!

Oh geez, Shelby...maybe if we go I'll call and make sure we do not have to pay to be there.

    Felicia, awesome! We're pretty close!

Whether you signed up or not, you were going to win, along with every other bride that went to the show or requested free tickets online. But despite all the posts to the contrary, you choose to believe only the ones who paid $25 for rings worth $5 and paid $100 for vacations they never took. Good luck!

Sharon, I mentioned that above about everybody winning. lol I figured that much.

Most of the people that are advising against it were through a different company (I think most said National Registries?). I'm weighing the ones that went through the same vendor as I did more heavily for obvious reasons.

We shall see if we end up going or not! Thanks for your input, though!

So I got one of those to a couple months back. Its a real thing but it's a very high pressure situation. They push you to buy their other products and stuff like that. If you're good in those kinds of situations then think about it but I didn't do it.

Such a waste of time. I dragged FH w/ me when I was first contacted and it was not worth it.

My brother went to something similar and wound up buying the $1500 pots and pans set.

He....does not make good life choices.

Lmao Staci! That's crazy!!! Even if I wanted pots and pans that expensive I would never have that kind of money to put into that! But Cash is King for me. If I dot physically have the money in hand, I won't buy.

They sold him on the "free honeymoon" and the "free wedding bands" which like everyone says are impossible to actually redeem and come with all kinds of hidden fees.

I got a call from the same company. I did sign up at a bridal show, I remember they had cute black and white polka dot bags as a "treat" for signing up so I did it for the bag. Free stuff! I got the same exact call, free trip or bands, nice hotel in town, and that there would be food. We decided not to go bc I didn't like that they kept texting me, even after I confirmed we would go, but after all the texts I was just over it. The company was dinner for two at the bridal show.
