I want to release confetti!

Pinkuin, on February 21, 2014 at 9:43 AM Posted in Planning 0 11

Hi y'all, happy Friday to those who are getting married today and tomorrow and Sunday!!

So I need some suggestions. I have this idea and vision of releasing pretty confetti during our first dance. We are hanging some lanters, Pom poms and lights over the dance floor, and I really want something like a box filled with confetti to be opened via a remote control (the ceiling is too high for anyone to be up there operating anything) ... Thing is, I can't find anything I think would work! Any suggestions on how to do this ::quietly::? I don't want the loud confetti shooters going off, just a subtle glittery confetti fall! Any suggestions are welcomed!

While I am not very helpful on this, try reaching out to a venue that does a NYE party as I am sure they do it and may be able to help.

Talk to your venue first. Its possible they may not allow it on the dance floor because of the confetti making the floor slippery with the small particles everywhere, or they may require immediate cleanup, which could be a major detractor.

    Good luck!

I'd see if the venue allowed it before I'd commit. A lot of venues are picky about what they allow and don't allow. I feel that it might be too much of a mess and one the venue doesn't want to clean afterwards. They might be OK with it, but I know some are strict about what they allow and don't allow.

I think you're going to have a hard time finding a venue that will allow this. Confetti is like glitter and will haunt your life forever.

Get WRITTEN permission from the venue. Include it in your contract with them. You may have to give them a larger cleaning deposit. A confetti cannon or two is a safer bet than to use something suspended from the ceiling. There should be a lighting production company in Austin who can rent one, and probably even deliver and set it up for you.

One more thought, DON'T shoot it until after all the food is consumed. It gets in everything.

I agree with the ladies above who said check with your venue first! Ours has a strict ban on confetti and glitter.

It sounds so cute but do you really want glitter and confetti all over your hair, dress, fh's tux... it will be in every picture taken after the first dance.

Well I was actually thinking just tiny white and silver paper confetti or white petals. Bc yeah I hate glitter all over me and I'm sure everyone else wouldn't appreciate a glitter bath lol! I do agree that the venue might worry about the cleanup and the slippery dancefloor... We are having our lighting company change the color wash of the room to a different color since they do that as part of their package, so I thought it would be a nice "dreamy" effect to add the floating confetti but maybe not so much haha
