i want to cry - calling for rain on wedding day

FutureMrs223, on February 20, 2018 at 8:05 AM Posted in Planning 0 30
My wedding is this Friday and it's forecasting rain. I know it's not a big deal to most but I can't help but think of how im going to get to the limo without soaking the bottom of my gown (it's big) and all of the photos I'm going to miss outside. We picked a castle to take pictures in front of and I'm really upset that it's most likely not going to happen. Sorry I just had to vent. I know it's going to be the happiest day of my life but I really am sad about the high possibility of not being able to get a lot of photos outside.

Just breathe! Just because it’s on the forecast doesn’t mean it will rain. And remember at the end of the day you’ll be married and that’s the end goal!

Deep breath. Your pictures and your day will be beautiful even if it doesn’t go exactly as you planned.

Do you know anyone with a prime account? You can order a clear umbrella and still try to take a few pictures just you and your FH outside if it isn't pouring too badly - lots of people do this when it rains on their wedding day and the pics always come out beautiful!

Also the weather forecast changes by the hour so everything could change between this moment and then!

Look up some long exposure rain photos and see if it's not poring if your photographer could capture that. Buy some cute white umbrellas and don't let this get you down. Assign people to be dress holders so they pay attention and make sure its not dragging around or getting messy. And talk to your photographer about exciting and dirt that may get on it out of pictures. Enjoy the day and don't dress too much. It would suck to look back and only have sour feelings about your entire wedding.

I don't know if this helps but in many countries it's traditional to take more "wedding pictures" after the couple returns from the honeymoon or in the weeks after the wedding. But no matter what, I'm sure that your day will be so much fun!

You can still take beautiful photos in the rain, you can get cute umbrellas to match your wedding colours (on amazon or something so they get there on time)

Sometimes pictures with rain look even prettier! Buy some cute large umbrellas to keep
yourself dry and still get pictures outside. Who knows, it may not even rain!

Talk to your venue. Maybe you can schedule a day to come back and get the pictures you wanted.

I'm getting married on Saturday, and the forecast changed from snow (which we wanted) to rain storms. Meaning a lot of our venues outdoor photos areas will be too muddy to use. So my FH came up with the idea of making a day of it down the road. Getting all dressed up again, renting a limo spending it getting some great photos from different areas.

A coworker of mine showed me her wedding pictures after a day of rain and their photographer was amazing, you could hardly tell it rained in the pictures unless you looked real close at the blades of grass or the outline of her hair. She did say that the bottom of her dress was soaked afterwards but she didn't care since it was after the ceremony and spent time blow drying it afterwards. Her pictures were still beautiful and stunning, so don't worry. A great photographer will still be able to take fantastic outside pictures (as long as it's not downpouring and you're willing to get the dress a bit wet, understandable if you don't).

But also, just because rain is in the forecast doesn't mean it will, or will last all day. Hold out hope and don't check the weather for another couple of days.

I agree with the others the forecast could change 10 times between now and then. Try to make the best out of it. Photos in the rain could be absolutely gorgeous .

Awe man! By at least you know ahread of time so you can plan for it. I have some friend who had it spontaneously thunder storm really bad on their day even though the weather said clear skies. I think if you know in advanced, maybe try to capitalize on the opportunity for some great pics! Pinterest has a ton of ideas for a rainy wedding day

I agree with PPs get some cute umbrellas and talk to venue about coming back another day for pics if the weather is really bad, also if you do that maybe you could still get pics at the castle too! At least you weren’t planning on your wedding being outside!

Take pictures anyway!! Make the most out if it. You can get some great shots. Or see if your photographer is willing to take pics in another day. We had sone conflicts with the timing of my wedding. So ours is going to take ceremony pics, and then cone take pics of us all dressed up again a cpl days later when it's lighter outside.

I Have a friend whose reception was outside, and she said it rained pretty much the whole time. The first dance was in the rain, everything. But she said it was beautiful. They ,made it beautiful. Everyone had cute umbrellas and she looks back and is thankful that the rain set her wedding apart. My ceremony will be outdoors and I am mentally preparing myself for rain. If you can, look into renting a big clear tent. just the top will be covered and you will still be able to enjoy your day. It will be beautiful.

It probably won't rain all day! If you're not taking pictures of getting in the limo don't be afraid to look silly, gather your dress up and don't let it touch the ground.

Also umbrella pictures are sooooo pretty!

Try not to stress too much. You can't control the weather. All you can do is prepare for it. Come up with a plan for getting to the limo and into the venue without getting your dress too wet. Can it be temorarly pinned up in any way? Who will be around that can help you hold the bottom up? Buy a couple really big umbrellas to help with that also.
And I agree with people about still taking photos outside. Maybe buy a change of shoes that can get wet firnthat time. And use this big umbrellas as props. Talk to your photographer this week and see if they have any ideas. If they have a lot of experience, this probably isn't the first time there has been rain in the forecast for a wedding they've photographed.
