I wanna registry at Lowe's is that WEIRD ?

Skye, on April 25, 2016 at 2:08 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 39

FH and I are in the process of purchasing a house that needs some TLC. Would it be weird to register at Lowe's or Home Depot ? Do you think people would actually purchase us wedding gifts from these stores ?

Nope, I think that would be really reasonable. A lot of guests will probably appreciate being able to get you a gift that you will actually use. Amazon and myregistry let you add items from any website or store, so you can probably use those if Lowe's doesn't offer gift registries.

I've heard of people registering at Home Depot! Why not??? Do they HAVE a registry program??

People will buy from anywhere, especially if they are purchasing online. Or they may choose to get you a gift card from Lowe's if they don't know what to pick.

I think its a very practical idea!

I think I read recently that the problem with the HD registry is that it's not in a company-wide database, so your registry is only good for the store you registered at. Not sure about Lowe's though.

I looked into it and couldn't find an online register option for either. You can do an amazon one if your looking to register for tools, etc.

FH and I just recently purchased a house and I would have loved to register for Home Depot. They don't have the typical gift registry program; but there's a way you can get around it by creating a list and making it public. It was too labor intensive for me. If you can set one up at Lowe's, do it. If not, maybe just in conversations, let everyone know of your remodeling project and that "FH and I spend a lot of time at Home Depot and Lowe's". Maybe they'll get the hint and purchase a gift card.

I found the website for HD Registry and I don't like the point of it being online only .

We wanted to as well, but I don't think they do them. We ended up doing a "list" at Home Depot and making it "public" so that other's can see it.

I didn't see Registry being an option on their website. So I was going to use Sears - but now I'm using Amazon.

I love the idea - we registered at Sears actually for the same reason. Most people bought from our BB&B registry but the ones who bought from Sears bought online. I wish I'd done amazon instead of Sears for that reason since there would have been more options with amazon.

Now that I'm thinking about it I would prefer to get gift cards . Because we need everything from flooring, paint, appliances and etc and I can't put that on a registry list. Can I only list one store on our registry page that way most will only get the HD gift card ? We do need other things as well but getting the house done finished is better than a can opener right now.

I don't think they have a registry option but we put gift cards from Home Depot in our registry section of our website. We bought a house last summer and it needs a new fence...bad! We're hoping we can buy supplies for that with the gift cards we get!

Just a heads up, I looked into the home depot registry and there's a whole forum that says that none of their guests can find the registry. And when they go into the store and ask employees about it, the employees say they don't have registries.

NOPE, brilliant! We're using Amazon and there's a TON of home improvement/maintenance type of things on ours. Go for it!

If you need it, I think it's a great idea! For my bridal shower, I actually received a gift card to both Lowe's and Home Depot. Definitely not something I would have ever expected (or thought of), but much appreciated, and certainly something we could use!
