I've been planning this large ceremony for July, and I've been so incredibly stressed the whole time. My family has been a nightmare, constantly making offensive comments to the point where I don't even enjoy talking to them about wedding plans, and I'm ready to just elope. My Dad compared my wedding to a funeral (semi-jokingly), and my mom basically told me that my wedding won't mean anything and that I don't know how to love because I'm not the same religion as her anymore. I have a perfect opportunity to do it sometime between March 24th and April 3rd, and the more I think about it the more excited I get, except that I am horrible with confrontation, and I kind of dread dealing with my family's reaction. Thoughts?

I've decided I'm eloping. I've checked with the only person that was going to be getting a hotel and they have not booked it yet, so I'm good with out of town guests. I don't have any deposits because I lucked out on the specific places we were planning, so I don't have to worry about those, and my FH is really excited about eloping! It feels good to be doing it the way I want it. His immediate family will be there as witnesses along with one close friend of mine, and we're going to find a public park somewhere, we just need to choose which one and reserve it.

If it's not too much of a financial loss, I say elope. You should do what makes you and your FH happy since it sounds like your family is going to be a problem no matter what.
