i said "yes" to the dress... again!

Kiley, on September 30, 2019 at 12:52 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8

For awhile now I have been second guessing my dress, which I know is very common. At the time of purchase, my dress complimented me well, and covered all of my insecurities.. But as time went on I have lost some weight, became more secure with my body and less in love with the dress. At every alterations appointment, I was less and less excited about my dress... if you saw my post last week regarding alterations by what was suppose to be a trumpet style dress quickly formed into an A-Line in alterations.. I place no blame on my seamstress. Poor lady was taking a size 10 to a size 4.. When I turned to others for advice on it not looking right and not loving it anymore, to my surprise "reassuring" comments were hard to come by.. most comments consisted of "not the type of dress I thought you'd choose" and "what if you remove this and adjust this"... while in the moment my feelings were hurt.. I mean who's wouldn't be when suddenly it feels like no one likes the dress! ... but after taking a step back I realized that I was second guessing the dress myself and that maybe I needed to re-evaluate it all.. SOOOOO... on Friday during my lunch break I went to David's Bridal alone! (my family is in another state and I felt like my FH's family were strongly opinionated at alterations appts). Strangely it was an awesome feeling to try on dresses alone without waiting for other's thoughts and opinions before I could formulate my own. My consultant was SO lovely! She knew my story and went above and beyond to put me at ease. When I found THE dress, I sent my mom a picture.. followed by a few others I liked. She immediately called (she knew I was second guessing my dress a few days prior).. She was in such awe over my dress that she was crying just looking at the photo. My lovely consultant held my phone while I FaceTimed my mom so she could see every detail and then gave me the "I said yes sign" and had me bring the bell while my mom and I were still FaceTiming! It was such a great experience! I still haven't told my FH's family that I picked a new dress yet.. I have so many postive vibes surrounding my experience I am not ready to let those fade yet. I plan to tell them after it arrives and they can see it at my "final fitting". Anyways, here's the new dress!
