Get your budget together and a tentative guest list so you know how big a space you need. Book a venue and start looking for a dress because they can take up to 6 months to order and then you have alterations and that takes time! Use the wedding wire planner- it really helped me out!

I agree with Jenny, decide on a budget first. That really dictates quite a bit. Then start looking at venues, several of them have different packages to choose from. That will give you a ballpark figure of costs. Then decide on what kind of wedding you can have with your budget. I absolutely recommend using the budget planner here on wedding wire, it really helps to keep track of things. The ladies on here are full of great advice and wonderful ideas. Also, utilize the search button they have on here for all kinds of questions you may have, chances are someone else had the same question too. Good luck and most of all happy planning Smiley smile

    Congrats!!!

    Welcome to WW!

    1) Figure out your budget

    2) Figure out what kind of wedding you want that will fit your budget. Elope? Small & Intimate (under 20ppl); Destination Wedding in Mexico?; 50 ppl? 200 ppl?

    3) Your dress should be next

    4) The WW wedding planner is FANTASTIC - Great tool!

    Happy Planning!

I live in AZ and had a $15,000 budget with 150 guests. It was going to be very tight. We decided on a destination wedding in Hawaii and will be spending about $6000 total on wedding and with tickets and condo and activities planned, we will be at right around $10,000 total for everything.

We found the food and bar to be the most expensive things. We decided on a buffet style dinner to help with costs and will be hosting the bar to a $500 limit. After that it will be a cash bar. We will only have about 50 guests so that will really be an excessive amount of alcohol if they go over $500.

I got my invitations on clearance from Hobby Lobby for $10/package that included envelopes and response cards. I used shimmer spray on them to make them a little more fun.

Costco has beautiful flowers for a really great price. I am making my own bouquets and centerpieces.

Just a few ideas to get you started.

    Welcome to WW and congrats!

Yep- budget then venue (venue/caterer/alcohol determines a good portion of the price if you know how many guests you want to have).

We're budgeting about $100 per person to feed everyone (although I'm sure it will end up being less than that). Use the WW budget tool! It's super helpful!

Also, feel free to bounce ideas off these lovely ladies- they're really very helpful.

Welcome to WW! That's obviously a great first step :-)

As the ladies said, budget and guest list are your priorities.

Check out www.costofwedding.com, it will give you a great starting point for average prices in your area.
