I need a dress; wedding is in 2 months

Tara, on March 3, 2015 at 10:28 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13

So, I returned my dress today. The sales associate & alterations rep misrepresented what alterations could be made to my dress when I purchased, and I've just found out that I cannot take it in without it looking lumpy and misshapen. Management was wonderful about the situation and offered a refund (according to the other posts I've read, outright refunds are rare), so my money will be recovered. I'm just a little short on time (May 15 deadline).

So my question to you ladies is this: Where have you found the best off the rack wedding dresses?

All bridal shops will have off the rack for you to choose from. I don't think there is a particular place that you should go. It may just take more time to find the one for you!

I would look into all options, including DB - you never know where that hidden gem will be found.

I used to be one of those "ew, DB" people....until I became a bride. Honestly, they have some beautiful dresses and the best variety of styles, sizes and prices and have plenty of off the rack options to choose from.

We got our dresses at a wedding consignment store. Not only did we save money, but we got to try on the actual dresses we would be wearing, and take them home the same day.

I bought my dress at BHLDN on Saturday and it was delivered to my mom's house on Tuesday. I still need to get some alterations done, but it was available quickly.

I also bought my dress at a bridal consignment store. I would recommend looking for one in your area.

What area are you in? Have you looked to see if anything you tried on prior to ordering your own dress is available off the rack? Some stores don't have real sizes on the rack so it depends what you are looking for and what size you need. The first place I went was super hoity toity and nothing in there was larger than a real size 8-10. Didn't buy anything there because I couldn't tell how it would look in my size.

What type of dress are you looking for and what size?

There are a lot of options on www.preownedweddingdresses.com. I don't know if you're interested in a used dress, but they have a lot of dresses that were never worn as well (some even still have the tags on them).

You are really lucky they were willing to refund your money. Most places will not. I bought mine off the rack at a local boutique. It's perfect and I can't tell the difference. I also got a crazy good deal on it because it's a 2009 line and discontinued.
