I messed up our invitations :(

Michaela & Shane, on August 29, 2015 at 2:21 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

Ugh so upset with myself right now. After looking at my invitations on a computer screen for weeks waiting for them to come in, I just noticed a mistake. We are having a private ceremony in Cancun, followed by a reception/celebration party here when we get back. I just noticed that our invitations read "request the honor of your presence at a CEREMONY to celebrate their new marriage". ...It's not a ceremony it should read "request the honor of your presence at a celebration of their new marriage".

Ugh can't believe it. I had so many people look at these and looked over them for so long before finally ordering. I was so picky about the wording given the circumstances too.

Oh well, in positive news I ordered them far in advance so they can be reordered.

I did a similar thing where I misspelled the location of our venue. I think we look at it for so long we see what we want to see! Hoping for version two to be perfect.

I'm just glad I didn't mail them out and then notice. I still can't believe it. I stressed so much about the wording to word that it was reception only, that the ceremony was private (the invitation and save the date mentioned our private cancun ceremony). Somehow I still managed to put ceremony in the wording lol.

So sorry about that. I learned from my own mistakes to read things backwards. When you read something over and over your mind tends to skim over words and place what you expect to be there in place of what actually is there. Reading backwards you focus on each word.

Oh yeah. I'm a graphic designer. I'll stare at something for hours and hours, days and then DOH! There is that mistake. Sometimes you have to walk away and come back to it later.

And always have a proofreader! I never do, and I always screw it up!

Always have 2 or 3 people proofread. That's why so many ladies post on here before ordering. It's not a terrible mistake.

Oh no! Next one will be perfect!

How about if it reads "request the honor of your presence to celebrate their union"

    Rock on!

If it makes you feel better it wasn't until we got a proof that we realized I forgot to put our date on the invitation. All other info, even a map of the venue and I forgot the date.

The date story does make me feel better lol! I had two people proofread it. Oh well, in the grand scheme of things it really isn't that big of a deal. These invitations weren't set to go out until November. I have more than enough time to reorder.
