Hey Ladies, my Father recently passed away on 8/8/2019 (Rest in Heaven Daddy) and I have no one else close to me to walk me down the isle. Is this a thing or not? I have only been to one wedding where a bride walked down by herself and her father and step father were both there. I thought about a few of my uncles stepping in, but realistically, they are unreliable. My brother and I aren't on the best terms and does not support my relationship. It makes me sad every time I think about this part of my wedding. I am also trying to figure out some ways to honor my Dad during the ceremony or while I am walking down the isle....Alone.

My biological father and i dont have that kind of relationship and was not a part of my life, my adopted father died when i was 11 so if the Lord bless my grandfather to see my wedding day in april 2021 he will be the one to walk me down since he has been in my ENTIRE life.

P&J I know how you feel. Everyone has their opinion and suggestions and it sometimes drives me nuts. There is no one that can fill his shoes so I will just walk alone. I'm sorry about your dad also.

Laura, I agree. I feel like my mom has her own part to play and I don't want her to have to walk me down the isle. I am sorry to hear that you have suffered so much loss. My condolences.

I completely feel your pain... my father died when I was 8 and it's so hard knowing that he won't be able to walk me down the aisle. I have no father figures in my life at all so that's not an option either.

I did decide to have my 3 brothers walk my down the aisle although. Two will be spread out through the aisle and my oldest will walk in with me, handing me off to my 2nd oldest, and then my youngest brother will be there to give me away.

I think it will be fine if you walked by yourself, or better yet, I have also seen weddings where the groom comes to meet the bride halfway! Smiley smile I'm sure you'll figure out something that works best for you. Best wishes!

A lot of people I know, particularly over 25 or so, have chosen to walk alone down the aisle, or enter from the opposite side as groom and meet at the altar, to make a statement that, like the man ( or woman) they are marrying, they are independent, capable, self-supporting people before marriage, and come to marriage with their FI as equals. Even with very much loved fathers or grandfathers and brothers there. I think it is a fine choice .
