I HATE strapless bras!!

Carousel, on December 15, 2016 at 8:14 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18

I will be a BM in FSIL's wedding this Spring. The dress she has chosen requires strapless/no bra. I am basically the president of the I.B.T.C. and have problems holding up anything strapless. [Sidenote: isn't the whole point of a bra to hold *you* up and not the other way around? Ugh]. I've had a humiliating experience in the past where I was in public and my strapless bra started slipping. It was a situation where I was unable to excuse myself and go adjust, so I spent a few hours with my lightly padded bra down around my lower ribs. Awful!

I could go bra-less, but then I feel like I could be mistaken for a 10 year old. Or a boy. I would like something there to add some, er, 'definition'.

Anyone have tips or tricks to share to help me get through FSIL's special day?

Thanks in advance!

Check out a backless push up NuBra. It's an adhesive bra, but very comfortable. A friend who claims she's the president of the IBTC swears by them.

Your bra shouldn't be slipping. Have you been measured and fitted for one?

Alternatively, you could find a seamstress to sew cups into your dress. It might cost a little bit, but it might be worth it for your comfort!

One of my friends refuses to wear strapless. She's one of my MOHs, so I decided to let them pick out whatever style dress each wanted to avoid her being uncomfortable. I have no advice on how to make a strapless bra work better. I would definitely second getting professionally fitted for one and see if that helps if you aren't comfortable with the NuBra.

This is why I am not a fan of people picking dresses for their BMs. I a!so hate strapless bras. I am not small or large chested, I just think most strapless bras make my boobs look weird and I hate pulling them up the whole time. Also I kinda like covering up. My wedding dress isn't even strapless.

I think that going and getting a proper fitting will work wonders.

I don't own a strapless bra & have no plan of buying one in the future. If something requires s strapless, I go braless. I used to be a part of the ibtc as well but paid $5000 to upgrade. (Best $5000 I've ever spent too).

I don't have any recommendations bc they never stayed up on me either & it wasn't emtirely an issue of not being properly fitted. I'd check out those backless adhesive bras. If they're stuck to you with adhesive surely it won't come down?!

I'm...uhh...the opposite of the IBTC, as in they're enormously inconvenient at times, and shopping for a strapless bra is definitely one of those times. >.< I've been fitted properly for them and spent out on a couple of REALLY nice ones to no avail.

I have zero issues with my strapless, and if yours fits properly, it shouldn't slip. It sounds like you need a smaller band with a larger cup size (as band size decreases, so does cup size). It's not uncommon to need a band size smaller than your (correctly fitted) bra band size, and to make fitting issues worse, over 80% of women are wearing the wrong size bra.

I definitely recommend measuring yourself at the link below.

Not a fan of the IBTC phrase but I agree nu bra or see if a seamstress can sew in some cups.

This is why I'm letting my BP choose their own individual dresses. I'm sorry you have to suffer through a crappy dress moment!

I'd say get some cups sewn in for a "bustier" look but if it was me I would go no bra, comfort is key!

Sew in cups or get properly fitted. A good fitting bra shouldn't slip.

Same as you, also a member of the IBTC and can't stand strapless bras because they always seem to want to slide down without anything there to hold them up! BUT please look at a backless adhesive bra.. they are basically just cups that stick right on your boobs, they stay on good and make you not look completely flat chested. I discovered them this summer and now can comfortably rock strapless outfits, backless shirts, etc.

I can't stand strapless for that reason, and I've never had luck with strapless bras. Strapless corsets are fantastic (the real kind, the ones that cost an arm and a leg and have steel boning), but they aren't super dancing-friendly. I would say, have the dress tailored and cups sewn in.

See, the thing about gravity is that the bigger the boobs are, the more the bra falls down. I'm a DDD and I was convinced I would never ever be able to wear one comfortably. Until I got a real bra fitting and bought a quality strapless bra.

I've never used the stickies, pretty sure they don't even come in my size. But my 32 A roommate swears by them. I'd give that a shot, or get a good bra fitting.
