I hate my teeth

Hannah, on June 26, 2017 at 10:09 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 23

I am super self conscious about my teeth. I tried invisalign a for a few months and it left my teeth discolored. I've been considering getting bonds or veneers. Advice?

You definitely don't need veneers. I think your teeth look fine. If it makes any difference, I work in the dental industry.

I have all that spacing Smiley sad. I just don't feel like I'll be able to smile at my wedding and be photographed. I guess I'm my harshest critic. My ex used to make fun of my teeth and offer to pay for dental work.

Your ex sounds like a grade A asshole. Forget him.

Don't get me wrong, I know where you're coming from. I had braces growing up for four years and my teeth are still a little crooked - and I have a gap between my top and bottom teeth even when my mouth is closed all the way. But your FH fell in love with you as you are. Trust me, your teeth are not bad - I've seen some nasty mouths and you're not even in the same galaxy as those people. Don't stress, you'll be beautiful on your wedding day.

Your FH must love your smile and asked you to be his wife with that smile so enjoy your wedding day smiling during the whole thing!

Thank you ladies for your kind words, unfortunately my mom had said things about my teeth as well so I'm probably being sensitive. I thought about eloping so we wouldn't have to get pictures done. Ugh why am I so crazy. My two front teeth are not even and one is longer than the other.

I hated my teeth my whole life.

After putting braces on my kids, and finishing raising them, Joe suggested I finally get them. What I have found is that the alignment also helps reduce headaches as well as other dental problems.

I didn't want to go the Invisalign route. Ten months later I had a whole different look.

All this was done at the old age of 58 Smiley smile It's never too late!

Your teeth do not look discolored to me. If you have concerns about color then try whitening strips.

I think your teeth are fine!!

I have major dental issues due to genetics and Autoimmune issues. I was recently told to basically get dentures... or spend $15k to fix my teeth... im 31... really heartbreaking!!!

I felt the same way as you, OP. Mine were crowded, though. I got braces at 35. I was compliant and wore them for 11 months. I LOVE my smile, now! It was worth every penny and every visit for adjustment and every day they were sore. I opted for traditional metal braces as they are more cost effective, they work the fastest and they are lower profiled than the ceramic or clear. I got smoke gray or silver bands on them. I bought a Water Pik to keep everything clean, and 11 months later... So happy.

You really have beautiful teeth! Like you, I have a gap. I have learned to embrace it over the years though. I feel like it's a part of my look now. I have debated multiple times on having it fixed, but I can't bring myself to do it.

Jess's made good points, it's crucial to be compliant.

HisBeauty, it will be worth the $15k to get them fixed, some of your health depends on them!

I think they're fine. It makes you who you are and don't look bad at all.. at least they're not super crowded and in all directions.. you have to learn to just embrace the gap. Try the whitening strips

It might make you feel pretty when they're extra white! I use the crest whitening strips and they work great Smiley smile

    Good luck girl!

The front tooth on the left (your right) can probably be filed down to be even with the other front tooth. DH had this done after chipping one of his teeth.

In my understanding, invisalign would take way longer than a few months to work. Its a shame to spend all that money on them and then not go through with it!!

Crest whitening strips are great and can probably correct any yellowing that happens. Braces can also cause some yellowing around the brackets because its harder to brush there. But you really shouldn't have yellowing as long as you are caring for your teeth properly while using the invisalign!

We all have our insecurities but your teeth are fine, honestly! They definitely AREN'T yellow and even though you have a gap, they really aren't crooked, its not like you have a snaggle tooth or something!

I just finished Invisalign and it took 2.5 years! If I could go back and do it all over again I would go with traditional braces. It is worth the investment to feel confident about your smile.

With that being said, I think gaps are charming and your smile is beautiful. I always tell my baby sister who has the same insecurities, embrace your imperfections, they add character!

Your teeth look fine and I honestly think that you won't even notice in the pictures - because you're going to be glowing from happiness and love. If you're insecure, maybe talk to a dental professional. As PPs said - forget your ex. He was obviously an ass.

I totally understand how you feel I had gaps in between some of my top teeth especially my 2 middle teeth and decided to get braces had them for 2 1/2 years, my teeth are small so Dr suggested I get veneers since I still had a gap between my two front teeth but i just left it how it is, I just figured that thats always going to be me, I did whiten them as well so Im happy with them now. I think the braces might get your gaps to close more, maybe you can try them and the day of your wedding you can ask them to take them off you just need to pay extra, that's just an option. They also file them down once you take them off so your right tooth would be even.

@Nonna not worth it to me. They can't guarantee the work, or anything, so I'm not spending $15k for work that "might work".
