I hate my dress :( pic in comments

SoontobeMrs., on February 22, 2017 at 8:39 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 44

I bought my dress way too soon. I started off with an idea of a ruffled skirt then somehow I ended up with a dress that I thought I liked but I never really loved it. And now, it's completely paid off and I see photos and I absolutely hate it (i don't want FH to see so I can't post photos) I called the boutique hoping I could change it but they said it's too late. Order is in and it's getting here in March. I'm so disappointed I want to cry.

I'm a size 10 and they ordered me a size 14 saying it's better to go safe. I made a horrible choice and now I'm devastated. I won't feel good in that dress. I'm crushed.

NOTE: It's worth mentioning that my wedding is in June in Europe then I'll have a celebration in Oct in the States. So I don't have much time to buy a new one Smiley sad I should edit my wedding date on here!

Idk how much it cost, and you don't have to share, but if you do find a dress you love and end up purchasing that, you can sell the unwanted dress on FB marketplace or your local wedding group to recoup some of the money.

I'm sorry though. I really don't have any advice in this situation. Other than do what feels right. Even if it's not the easy decision.

Are alterations a possibility? Maybe you can sell it and put the cash towards one that's "more you". Good luck.

I agree with pp. If you have extra money to buy a different dress, do that. And in the meantime you can list the other dress on preowned wedding dress sites or eBay. I see a lot of dresses sell for close to the original price on those sites.

I'm a size 10 and my dress is being ordered in a 14. It's just how bridal sizing goes. Do not pay attention to sizing. Plus they can always take the dress in during alterations up to two sizes. Try to breath and stay positive. You can either try to sell the dress once it's in to someone else on a fb site or online garage sale and then look at a consignment store or for a sale on another dress. However, I'd wait till it comes in and try it on again with accessories. You may be pleasantly surprised.

Here's the dress. I hate how ruffles start so high. I wanted a full mermaid style. I hate the messiness of the ruffles in real life. Ugh I should've waited.

If I try to sell it would I have to sell as used even if I don't wear it?

I know this won't help but it is pretty. This happened to me too. I bought my first dress too soon. I think I just got caught up in the whole "I'm trying wedding dresses on" excitement and said yes too soon. Fortunately davids bridal let me exchange it for a different dress. Which I am now very happy with. The dress really is pretty. But I totally get not feeling right with your first choice. If you can swing it financially I would get another dress. You want to be happy with your choice.

Sometimes I even have doubts about the dress I have now, but then I try it on again and feel better. Have you tried it on again? You might feel better

No you won't have to sell it as used. NWT stands for "new with tags" and I've seen a ton of dresses sold this way, probably for the same reason you're going to!

It's beautiful! But if you don't love it try to sell it and get one that you do love. You have some time

I tried this dress on too. I think it's beautiful!! I'm going with a very similar style that felt lighter in terms of actual dress weight.

I totally understand dress regret. And when I look at the model in my dress.. I almost wanna cry. I never thought myself to be a bling/lace/fitted dress type (nor did anyone else) and I'm petrified of when my dress comes in in the next few months. My consultant did point out that when I put this dress on, I kept mumbling "oh, I love this dress!" Lol
