I hate my bridesmaids dresses

Hannah, on April 27, 2017 at 1:19 AM

I ordered my bridesmaids dresses online in the color ivory and they are WHITE. It is stupid that I'm upset by that? I have 8 bridesmaids and it was hard enough just to get this dress. I feel like it will be be a pain to return them..

I agree with you that the dress looks more white than ivory. But even in white the BM dresses will look beautiful - especially since they are short. I assume your dress is long? I think Svetlana has a good idea with adding a sash or belt in a different color if you are wanting more color separation. Sorry you're going through this so close to your big day. Hope it all works out.

Why would you not purchase the $1 fabric swatches? Especially after the first mishap...

But either way, call DB and ask. Asking on here doesn't get anything done but get our opinions, call the store and ask if you can exchange them again.

I think it will look fine.

But take some responsibility and stop blaming everyone else. "My aunt took over". Well you let her. It's your wedding. Step up and figure it out. Either try to exchange them or live with it.

What's done is done and probably the best thing to do is focus on exactly what's bothering you about the dress and try to fix it. Is it that you don't like the actual color or are you afraid that they will blend in too much with you?

As others have said, adding a colorful sash will help. You could also pin a flower or a broach to the existing belt. Matching the sash with colorful shoes, a matching shawl or clutch would complete the look and break up the color.

Doing your hair and makeup differently (pale vs. bold lip colors), and carrying a different colored bouquet will help to distinguish you.

For what it's worth, I think the dresses are beautiful.

The dresses ate cute. I would keep them. You could add a sash like others have said. Bit, I don't think they'll look too much like your dress since they're short.

And, your last comment said "my aunt took over and now everyone bought a new dress. It's a messy situation and not my fault. By the way I paid for everything..." Do not put the blame on anyone else. Did you go to the store and look at the dresses they have in ivory? Did you tell your aunt to but put and leave the dresses how you wanted them? Did you authorize the store to exchange the dresses? You paid so I'm guessing they would have needed your approval. You let her take over. It's your wedding and you should have spoke up and made sure it was what you wanted. You didn't take the initiative to look at the color before purchasing it. Now you either love with the color (which several people have assures you will look good) or go through the process of ordering a different color.

The dress is cute so I would keep it and maybe add a different color sash, heels that have a pop of color or maybe earrings with a pop of color. It'll look fine. Don't stress over it too much.

Ivory is a shade of white. My wedding gown is ivory and it's the color of what I thought actual pure white fabric was. I don't know that you would have time to return them, get a new one, then let all your bridesmaids get alterations if needed. Depending especially on how available the dresses you replace them with for them to send back to you. It may be easier to get them dyed or to add a sash.

Might be too late or too much of a hassle...but you could return them and then go buy matching dresses off the rack. It's prom season, so formal dresses are EVERYWHERE.

Ivory is white. Most people can't tell the difference. Are you looking for more of a cream color?

You can't tell people how to post OP. It's not their fault you don't know what color ivory is.

Yeah...ivory and white are basicslly the same. If it's DB I feel like it should be an easy fix....depending on their customer service i guess. I also agree it will still look really pretty. Maybe a colored accessory?
