I hate my bridesmaids dresses

Hannah, on April 27, 2017 at 1:19 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 56

I ordered my bridesmaids dresses online in the color ivory and they are WHITE. It is stupid that I'm upset by that? I have 8 bridesmaids and it was hard enough just to get this dress. I feel like it will be be a pain to return them..

    Did you order them overseas? If so then yeah that will be a pain. My sister in law had us order our bridesmaids dresses from china (nothing wrong with that) however the same situation occurred and the color of the dresses were way off than advertised. When she shipped some back she had to pay soooo much! HOWEVER, if you ordered them here in the states I would not find it difficult to return them and get what you saw advertised.

    Hmm, is the fabric one you could dye? If the return would be too much of a hassle you could attempt to alter the color yourself but that in itself is a risk too

    @Mrs.Soon2Be

    I ordered them from Davids bridal which is why I'm surprised. This is the second dress that I've ordered for them because the last dress was the wrong color too!

    @Jamie K.

    I don't know if I'm crafty enough to do that but good idea!

    If this is your second BM gown fail, what are you looking for? Are they actually coming in with the wrong fabric, or are they just whiter than you expected? What color do you want them to wear?

    And yes, for eight women to return gowns, a second time, with 10 or 11 weeks to go,, is kind of a PIA, Sorry...

    Long story short.. the first dress came in wayyy too light. In the picture it looked like a nude color almost (the color I want). Then they came in ivory. Some girls wanted to get new dresses, some didn't. So I picked out another dress to make it a mismatched look. Then my aunt decided to take over and now everyone has a new dress. The material is fine, I just don't like the color. I think it's weird to have them wearing the same color as me?

    Could you dip dye them? Maybe use a little bit of dye to make them less white more ivory? That way I'd the return process is problematic instead you could use them anyway. I bet ombre dresses would be pretty.

    You ordered ivory. Of course it's going to look white and you were fine with that when you ordered them. I think you need to just live with it at this point. Your wedding is less than 3 months away and your girls have already lived through one do-over. Unless you're paying for the dresses, let them wear what they have and move on.

    Ivory looks like white. That's why you can get more wedding dresses in ivory or white. Did you look at the color in store and not just online?

    Just go to the store and look at the colors. Or you can get swatches online for $1. What color do you want them in?

    I'm sorry, I'm confused... what color did you think ivory was?

    If you're not happy, return them. It may be a pain but worth it in the end. I'd suggest for dress #3 physically seeing the fabric in person (not online or in photo)

    I've actually seen some very pretty photos of wedding party's in white. Do a google search before returning them, it may change your mind

    Ya you are probably going to have to live with it at this point. Unless DB gives you new dresses for free, which is probably doubtful bc it's not their mistake. Or can you return to DB? Weddings where the bridal party is all in white is really pretty. But if you can return, and get what you want in time. Do it today!

    David's Bridal doesn't carry actual white BM dresses, so if you ordered ivory, you got ivory. Ivory can appear to be white, so I really don't know what more you expected. If you didn't want them to look like you, then you should have picked a contrasting color.

    I'm not really sure what you expected, it's ivory. Also how do your bridesmaids feel about all of this? If I was in a wedding and the bride made me return not one, but two dresses, and then I had to buy a new dress less than three months out....I would probably seriously consider dropping out. That's a lot of stress to take on. Not only getting their dress in time, but alterations take time too. I would urge you to be cautious, you don't want to become a bridezilla over this.

    You're gonna have to live with it. it will honestly look fine.

    And just FYI, David's doesn't sell white or ivory swatches. I wanted an ivory one and they were all "nope don't do that". They said it's because of the color variation with different fabrics.

    Could you do a colored sash or something like that for the BM just to differentiate a bit?

    What a mess. Why would you even order ivory if you didn't want them wearing a color close to your dress?

    And why didn't you just go to your local DB?

    This is why it's better to order in store, they can try and make exchanges and get things expedited where as online you basically have to just return what you ordered and order something else entirely new

    I'm still confused as to why you thought ivory wouldn't look white... but good luck
