I HATE my bridesmaid dresses

Candice Raye, on August 6, 2015 at 2:57 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 46

I am not sure if I was just ready to finished with shopping, or if at one time I had actually liked them - but after ordering my bridesmaid dresses, I absolutely hate them. It's 2.5 months until the wedding, and I don't know what to do now.

I suggest you learn to like them. Too late now! I guess the bright side is, you don't have to wear them. lmao

Who paid for them? You or the bridesmaids?

If you paid for them you could try to sell them to get some money back and pick a different dress. It's probably too late to order new dresses from a bridal store (maybe david's bridal though) but you could order some online.

If the girls paid for it then you can't ask them to purchase another dress, unless you give them the money that they paid for them.

Or just suck it up and use the ones you already ordered.

That's a good idea! Sell them and get new ones! Who would buy them, though?

Can you change them a bit to make them something you'd like? Add a belt? Change the length? Change the straps or add straps?

Candice, calm down. Picture your wedding. Your bridesmaids. those ladies walking down the aisle ARE WEARING THE DRESSES THAT WERE ORDERED. Okay, so now that we now it's a fact -- just like we all know that it's a fact that all of us will urinate tomorrow morning before we do anything else -- can we just accept it? I haven't seen the dresses, but I doubt they are awful. Did you see Happy in Hawaii's blue parachute BM dress that was "custom made" for a Mormon wedding? Did you see the "modesty panel" that was sewn into every BM's nylon dress to erase the proof that the BMs were women? Are you asking your BMs to wear the hideous creations of the 60's, 70's, 80's, or 90's? Are there professional football player shoulder pads sewn into those gowns? Did you order them from China and did you receive gowns that look like shower curtains in a women's prison? If not, you're okay. Relax.

Can you post a pic? Really, we'll talk you off the ledge in ten minutes if we see what you're dealing with.

My wedding is 5 days before yours. My MOH just ordered her dress tonight off of Amazon and it will be here on the 11th. All of my girls will be in a different dress except for my two junior BM. The only reason they will be in the same dress is because the lady at DB flat out lied to me and told me that the dress I ordered was the only junior BMs dress in the material I needed. The day after I ordered them I was on their web site and found more of them and one was $50 less!!! I was not a happy camper and still am not very happy about the fact that everyone will be in different dress but them two.

Okay, pics please!! We need to see these things you hate so much, and why you hate them! Then maybe you'll get some ideas on how to change them and/or find someone else who likes them and wants to buy them off you! Never know, but pics would be nice either way. Smiley smile

Maybe you could show us the pics of the BM dress. And then we could have some suggestions.

I know a bride who postponed her wedding and there was 8 of us altogether. We purchased our dresses from AA for $180. She has been trying to see them. I haven't had any luck selling mine. The sizes range from a 00 (2 of them) , 2 (1), 4, 6 (I think there were 2 size 4 and 6s). The other one was a size 10 because she was pregnant. I personally think they are gorgeous- light grey chiffon, floor length with a blush sash. I'll post a pic. If have the room in your budget and even like these dresses, oh and more importantly they will fit into your theme I can talk to the bride to gather up the girls dresses and maybe you guys can talk and see if you can work out a good price for them! Mine is just hanging in my closet, hasn't been altered. It is a size 2 and I would be happy with $50-$60. Lol. I know we can't sell stuff on here, so I can get you in contact with the bride if interested.

If not I am sure the dresses aren't even bad. You picked them for a reason. I think you may just be having dress regret for your girls and that is pretty common. I really hope everything works out for you!

I was in a wedding where the bride had the same experience. She hated the dresses once they came in in the colors she choose. It's a long story, but she ended up having us all make a bow out of the sash and she liked them a little better that way. Is there anything like that you could do?

This post is worthless with pictures ... Let's see it! I know this group will give honest feedback! Perhaps with suggestions on how to improve them.

Most brides have been planning their weddings for over a year. At some point as your planning you may come across dresses or decorations or ideas that you think are better than what you already decided on and have already invested money and or time in. Or you've looked at so much you're not sure if you still even like it. It's a wedding, not a coronation. Stick with what you have, don't stress, don't waste your money.

Pictures please! I'm sure they aren't even close to as bad as you're thinking. You must have ordered them for a reason.

Pictures please. Even if its just to commiserate on how horrible they are, I know a lot of the creative ladies might have some ideas how to spice them up, make them more agreeable for what you are envisioning.

    What Kristyღ said.

At 2.5 months from your the wedding, you'd be cutting it pretty close if you wanted different dresses.

I hated mine too after ordering them, but i wasn't going to risk it by trying to sell them and get new ones. It was hard enough getting the ladies together that one day for dress shopping, let alone doing it again. (i paid for the dresses, so my decision)

    Thank you, Ladies!

    These are the dresses.

I got them in this grey color so that the bouquets, jewelry, and their heels (all of which will be in our wedding color, coral) will pop against the grey. Now, I feel like the illusion neckline is hideous. Maybe it's just pre-wedding jitters?

I think it is pre-wedding jitters - hat dress is really cute! Not the greatest photo, but with the flowers etc you are describing I think it will look great!

And like @Centerpiece said (she literally always has the best advice) there are much "worse" looks out there lol - I'm sure lots of people look back at bridesmaid dresses that were super popular at a given time and go - WTF was I thinking?? There is nothing crazy/offensive/off the wall about that dress .
