I hate guest books! (And I'm tired of making decisions)

Ok, I feel like I'm losing it. Part of me just wants to go to Michaels and buy a $10.00 guest book. BUT, I know I will never look at it. My mom wants me to create a print off of Minted, but they are SO expensive and I can't see myself displaying it on my wall forever. So, I'm trying to find...

Ok, I feel like I'm losing it. Part of me just wants to go to Michaels and buy a $10.00 guest book. BUT, I know I will never look at it. My mom wants me to create a print off of Minted, but they are SO expensive and I can't see myself displaying it on my wall forever.

So, I'm trying to find something that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, and I came across some people that had guests sign blocks or hearts that you sew into a quilt later. My grandma taught my Mom how to quilt and my Mom taught me, so I thought it was perfect. Well, fiancé just stared at me when I told him, and my Mom told me I had lost my mind.

So, ten dollar Michaels book it is?!

We're doing a fingerprint tree as well. I got a $3 canvas from Michael's and I'm just going to draw a branch on there myself.

We're also having advice cards at the tables with fun writing prompts (like "what should we name our kids?" and etc). It'll probably be part of our kissing menu to fill out a couple of them before we'll kiss.

I had all these fun ideas for a guest book and it's just an uneccessary expense. I asked my FMIL what she with her guest book and she told me it's in storage "somewhere". That solidified that I don't want to waste my money either. I'm getting one from amazon for 12 bucks. It's in our color scheme looks nice and is simple. Done deal for me.

I think the quilt is a great idea! I made a book with our engagement photos on Shutterfly. I bought a Groupon so it wasn't too expensive and relatively easy to do. I also considered buying a wedding tree poster - where guests can sign on the leaves - because that's something I can hang up and enjoy. The only thing is they're pretty big! I'm still thinking about it because it'll be about $60 shipped.

We are having a photobooth and the attendant puts a copy of every picture taken throughout the night into a book and people can sign.

I also like the puzzle idea.

I did a free photobook from Shutterfly. That way if anyone wants to sign it they can, and if no one wants to, we have a book with pictures from our relationship up to engagement. It cost $8 and change to ship.

I made a free book on shutterfly with a code I received. I think it's from me being registered from DB. I never bought anything from them but got some cool things from other companies because they share your information. It turned out great and most of my guests signed it. Only had to pay shipping and for any upgrades that I wanted I also had a picture from our engagement photo shoot blown up with a border to have guests sign which also turned out great. It was only $9.99 at Staples. They always have them at this price and you can usually pick up the same day.

I uploaded our e-pics to Shutterfly and created a guestbook using their template. I can't tell you how many times I've flipped through it and read it. Love it.

I totally went with the $15 amazon guest book. Sure, I might not look at it. But it was inexpensive and some older guests like being able to sign something.

People get so damn creative with guest book alternatives and I don't have the patience to lug something around or feel pressured to display it in my house. I guess I'm not that sentimental.

    I might not even bother

I realistically don't see myself pulling it out to look at it again, and I definitely know that FH could care less lol.

If I end up bothering it won't cost over $15.

I got mine at hobby lobby on clearance for $5 But if you don't think it is that important, get a notebook from Walmart and just use it.

I am having one because it will be easier to send out thank you notes so I know who all attended.

Just because people RSVP doesn't mean they will show up.

I want the "platter". It's a serving platter that comes with food safe ink pens that guests use to sign. I like this idea because I will use a serving platter for holidays; this will help "bring me back" to the wedding day and all the people that celebrated with us.

I agree with previews posts that the good alternative to the guest book could be a wedding tree, for example, like on the attached photos.

We have a spare tire that won't hold air that we want to have everyone sign. Then when we get a garage we can hang it in there.

We did "wish cards" with spaces for the guest's name, how they know the bride/groom, and either their advice or wish for us. You can leave the cards and a pen on the dinner tables in an envelope with a little instruction to add their wish/advice to the wish box (located near the gift table)

We are scanning some to add to our wedding album.
